BODNARCHUK - Dick (Dmytro) Ernest passed away peacefully at Royal University Hospital on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at the age of 84, after a courageous six-month battle with cancer. He was born in the Oscar Lake District and farmed there for many years. He married Annie Roshko in 1946. Dick and Annie had three children Darlene, Marlene and Alvin. They moved from the farm to Blaine Lake and then to Saskatoon residing there until the present time. Dick is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Annie (Roshko); daughter, Darlene (Paul Hupaelo) and their three daughters: Tracy (Aaron Jans), Kiana of Lethbridge, AB, Taryn (Trevor Kasahoff), Carson, Tyler and Amber of Langham, SK, Tanette (Sean Serhan) of Fort McMurray, AB; daughter, Marlene Danyliw and her children: Janyne (Jason Foster), Brooke, Jason (Carol) Danyliw, Kerrie (Nevan Isaac) all of Regina, SK; son, Alvin (Kim) Bodnarchuk and their children: Maksym and Ksenia of Saskatoon, SK; sister, Mary (Slowko) Zaiachkowski of Big River, SK; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill Bodnarchuk in 1972 and Anna Bodnarchuk in 1992; his brother-in-law, Paul Gresiuk in 1944; nephew, Paul Yaseniuk in 1996; and son-in-law, Orest Danyliw in 1999. Dick was a very active community and church member. He served on the Oscar Lake Local School Board, Albertown St. Peter and Paul Church Executive, Agriculture Committee and numerous other organizations. His hobbies included fishing, camping, hunting, music and horseback riding. He loved dogs and horses, especially their little terrier, BJ. He also loved Kaiser and singing harmony in church and with his family. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather, uncle and loyal friend. Dick loved social gatherings, sharing good stories and he had a remarkable sense of humour, which was so well loved. He cherished his family and friends and loved to hear all the news about the grandchildren. All who knew him will miss him dearly. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2008 at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 3rd Ave N, Saskatoon with Rt. Rev. Vladimir Mudri officiating. The Divine Liturgy will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Ukrainian Catholic Church in Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2008 with Rev. Fr. Michael Fedoriv and Rev. Fr. Janko Kolosnjaji, Celebrants. Interment will take place at the St. Peter and Paul's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Albertown, SK. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church at Albertown, SK. Condolences to the family can be sent by email to [email protected]. Dearest Ann and family,
