Dick Hatch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2025.
It is with equal parts sadness and laughter that we announce the passing of Dick Claud Hatch, age 87. Dick left this world in the early hours of September 22, 2025 while surrounded by his Loving Family. Dick leaves us after living a life filled with love, laughter, and just the right number of cold beers. Leading up to his passing, Dick had been struggling with pneumonia which ultimately took his light away.

Dick was born November 30, 1937 in Richfield, Utah to LaVer Hatch and Ona Farnsworth. He spent his early years hunting and fishing in the beautiful Fish Lake area which he lovingly referred to as "God's country." Dick was proud to have been on the basketball team for Richfield High School from which he graduated. He attended the College of Southern Utah in Cedar City, Utah, acquiring his associates degree. He then joined the army serving for two years in the medical division at Fort Sam in Houston, Texas. Upon returning back to Utah, he finished his education at Utah State University where he acquired a business degree. It was during his time at Utah State where he met his future wife, Renee Reynolds. They were married following his graduation in June of 1962.

Dick was many things: a loyal friend, a sensitive and caring father, and an expert at Texas Red Dog. In all of his years spent as a father his children never once heard him say an angry word to or about anyone. Dick truly was his own person and foundationally stood for his beliefs while maintaining his genuine kindness. His legendary sense of humor, some of which bordered on wonderfully inappropriate, will echo in our hearts and at every family gathering where we'll hear, "Hail! Hail! The gang's all here! What the hell do we care, what the hell do we care" followed by fun stories of his past adventures. He adored his family, reminding us often that he worried about our happiness and wellbeing while offering his support to the best of his ability.

To honor Dick, we suggest raising a cold beer, sharing a story, and laughing loudly. He'd much prefer that over solemn silence. In his memory, we'll continue his traditions: enjoying time with friends, taking life a little less seriously, and always remembering that love and family can get you through just about anything.

Dick leaves behind his wife, Renee, his daughters, Heather and Kim, his grandchildren, Kyrsten and Trysten Gustaveson, Keaton, Kortland and Callie Hatch, countless friends, and enough good stories to keep us laughing for generations.

Dick is preceded in death by his eldest child and son, Gary. Leading up to his passing, Dick's family expressed much comfort knowing Gary was eagerly awaiting Dick's arrival on the other side of the ether. He left this world feeling loved, listening to his favorite music, and in the place he enjoyed the most. Home.

Grave side services will be held Friday, October 3 at 1 pm. Location: Bountiful City Cemetery 2224 s 200 w, Bountiful, UT 84010

Dick's close friends and family are invited to the after party to take place at the Pheasantbrook Clubhouse/Pool House Location: 21 w Pheasantbrook Dr. Centerville, UT 84014 (adjacent to main street in Centerville)

Dick Hatch was my boss at minit-lube in SLC UT when I was 16 years old. He was a man you could trust, he expected hard work, expected the best, and was generous and understanding. I also knew his son Gary and I would like to have shared one last beer with them both.

It is with love and immense sadness that I bid farewell to my oldest brother. He held our family together formany years and we´ll have to figure out to dhat on our own. I will miss our conversations which always included interesting and humorous stories of the many adventures he had experienced in his life. I will always miss him when we have family gatherings. His memory will prevail.
