Dickson Helmick

Dickson Helmick, 94, of Cortland, passed away peacefully, April 10, 2013 at his home. He was born August 29, 1918 in Jenningston, WV, son of the late Preston and Hettie Jane (Long) Helmick. Dickson was a member of Bazetta Christian Church, and retired from Packard Electric in 1982 after 30 years of faithful service. He enjoyed, gardening and spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his daughter; Jacqueline (Kenneth) Perman, of Berea, KY., son; James (Linda) Helmick, of Bristol, daughter-in-law; Beverly Helmick of Cortland, eight grandchildren; James (Donna) Helmick Jr., Cory Helmick, Jonathan Helmick, Kimberly ( Matthew) Falter, Karen (Steve) Smith, Kevin (Amie) Helmick, Robert Perman and Kelly (Scott) Madden, 12 great-grandchildren; Rebecca and Rachelle Calvin, Allison Smith, Preston Helmick; Michael, Tyler, Brian and William Madden; Colin and Cadence Perman; Robert and Miranda Helmick, sister; Texie Parker. Half brothers; Frank, Bruce and Hugh Thompson, half sister; Betty Woodford, Ruby Cooper and Bessie Meyer. Dickson was preceded in death by his wife in 2012, Jane (Nethken), son, Joseph Helmick, twin granddaughters; Dawn Marie and Jamie Lynn Perman, brothers; Charles and Art Helmick, sisters; Carrie Hughes and Sadie Helmick, half brothers Lester and Seymour Thompson, half sisters; Ruth Waybright and Grace Lugo and two step brothers, Blake and Bland Thompson. Friends will be received from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Sunday, April 14, 2013at the Roberts Clark Funeral Chapel, 180 Garfield Dr. Warren, OH 44483. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday April 15, 2012 at Bazetta Christian Church , 4131 Hoagland Blackstub Road Cortland, OH 44410. Pastor Paul Leone will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bazetta Christian Church. Funeral arrangements were handled by Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel.
