Dietmar Maximilian Schoeffel

Dietmar, I will miss your humor, your accent, your joie de vivre, and our fun times working together. Farewell, my friend.

He gave me a chance when I needed it what a great man and the best boss I ever had, thank you and rest peacefully. Will always have you in my heart.

Dear Schoeffel Family,

I sold Dietmar "special" rectangular optics for one of his Spectrometers back in the 80's. Some years later I was employed by him while raising my children as a part time inside Sales consultant. He was intelligent and full of life. He had a bubbly personality and always ready to make a sale. I will remember him fondly.

We are so saddened to learn of Dietmar's passing. My husband and I worked for Dietmar at Schoeffel Instruments in Westwood. It was Frank's first job out of engineering school and my first out of secretarial school. Dietmar was a brilliant inventor and a wonderful mentor, generous with his time and unfailingly kind. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Christl, Annette, Barbara, and Erik and their extended families.

To the Schoeffel Family---

Dietmar lived an amazing, full life. His work on this earth is done but he certainly made his mark on the world!

God can now show Dietmar the unknown secrets of the universe and he can soar over us and be another Angel for us.

As one of his many pupils over the years, Dietmar made a big impression on me.

I met Dietmar 8 years ago for a job interview. My first look through a spectroscope seeing the colors of a fluorescent light. From there he had helped me along in the struggle of resolution and calibration in the Monochromator. Always a hello in the morning and always asking how you are.Dietmar had a love of Classical music that has rubbed off on me. Grateful to this Man and his family

I began to work for Dietmar over 50 years ago straight out of college. He has been a wonderful boss, mentor and friend and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family today.

Liebe Christel, liebe Annette, lieber Eric, liebe Barbara,
auf Einladung von Dietmar durfte ich oft bei Euch sein. Manches Mal waren wir zusammen mit seinem Segelboot auf den Hudson River. Mit wenigen Menschen hatte ich so viele so tiefgehende Gespräche wie mit Dietmar, und ich habe sehr von seiner Weisheit profitiert. Wir waren beide Privatpiloten und Unternehmer, und uns verband derselbe Humor. Er war einer meiner geistigen Führer in diese Welt hinein, einer meiner Helden, eins meiner Vorbilder. Susi, Rene und ich, wir kondolieren Euch von ganzem Herzen. Bleibt ihr Übrigen aus dieser Welt uns bitte noch lange erhalten.

We no longer drive out of town so I can't say in person how our hearts are aching at the news of Dietmar's passing. He and you have been an integral part of our lives. Dietmar was not only a mechanical and scientific genius, but a person of admirable and sterling character who has always been a part of our lives ever since we met so many years ago.
