Dikran DIKRANIAN Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Dikran A. Dikranian in the early morning of Sunday, October 11, 2015. Born in Cairo, Egypt, August 14, 1932, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harutyun and Araxie Dikranian. His death is mourned by his wife Mrs. Madeleine (Zakarian) Dikranian, his sons Harry H. Dikranian (Norma Alepian), Raffy Dikranian, his grandchildren Marc and Alissa. He also leaves behind in grief his brother Dr. and Mrs. Hagop (Lucy) Dikranian, his nephews Dr. Ara Dikranian, Dr. and Mrs. Armen (Talin) Dikranian (their children Nayra, Ahlik, Sareen), and his niece Ms. Ani Dikranian all in California. Dr. Dikran Dikranian completed his residency at the Montreal Children's Hospital and Jewish General hospital. He retired as a practicing pediatrician from his long-time clinic at Polyclinique Cabrini in St Leonard, Montreal in 2000. In retirement, he was surrounded by his family and loved ones. Many thanks to his treating physician Dr. Cristiano Ferrario of the oncology department of the Jewish General Hospital and the caring staff of the palliative care department at Hôpital Notre-Dame- de-la-Merci. Visitation will be at the Komitas Funeral Home at 5180, rue de Salaberry, Montréal on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; and the Funeral Service at Sourp Hagop Armenian Church, 3401 Rue Olivar Asselin, Montréal on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made either to Ecole Alex Manoogian-Armen Québec de L' U.G.A.B., 755, rue Manoogian, Saint-Laurent QC H4N 1Z5 or Ecole Armenienne Sourp Hagop 3400 Rue Nadon, Montréal, QC H4J 1P5.

My deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Dr. Dikranian. I'm a very old patient of his. My parents took me to see Dr. Dikranian when both my brother and I started suffering from childhood asthma attacks. My brother grew out of it but for me it was allergies. Weekly I would visit his office for my allergy shots for quite a long time and I can still remember his big smile and how his cheeks would raise his glasses just before he'd start drawing a bunny rabbit on my arm to mark the spot where he would then insert the needle. I never cried although my mother could not look, but for me the entire drawing process was a distraction and wondering if he'd get the needle in at the right spot made me forget there was something that was to hurt. Having had Dr. Dikranian as a paediatrician, who even 40+ years ago warned my parents about antibiotics and letting a child's immune system fight off viruses naturally, not only cured the allergies, but I grew to be a strong kid and adult afterall - I can attest to his dedication and compassion for his many, many patients and his profession. My most sincere condoleances to the family and I hope the memories of him will help you through this difficult time. Please know that my family is extremely thankful for his life's work and hope he will Rest In Eternal Peace...he most certainly deserves it.

To dear Madeleine, Harry, Raffi and all the Dikranian Family. We were saddened to hear the passing of our beloved Dr. Dikran Artin Dikranian, we have a lot of memories of his younger years in Cairo although he migrated to Canada and I in Australia always remembered him and interested to hear his news through the family network, he will be remembered as kind and loving person, God rest his soul and grant compassion to you all, he will be in our prayers always.
