Dionicio S. Galvan Jr.

Harlingen, TX Dionicio S. Galvan Jr. 74, of, Brownsville, TX, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, entered into eternal rest of October 13, 2018, at Retama Manor in Harlingen, surrounded by loving family. He was born in Port Isabel, TX on July 1, 1944. He is preceded in death by his parents Dionicio and Gregoria Galvan, and his siblings; Santana Galvan, Juan Galvan and Margarita Gonzalez. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 53 years, Irma Roussett Galvan. Also surviving are his children; Michael(Yolanda) Galvan, Janice(Jay) Medina, Celina(Jerry)Cortinas, his siblings, Maria Ortiz, Esther Ebanks, Isabel Galvan, along with his grandchildren, Stephanie, Michael Jr., and Kimberly Galvan, Jay Ryan and Sarah Medina and Dion and Ally Cortinas. Mr. Galvan started working at First National Bank in 1964, was Director of Brownsville Gateway International Bridge and retired from Head Start Program as Personnel Director, but during all those years he was self employed with Galvan Seafoods. He also served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam Era.

Visitation will be held today, October 15, 2018 from 5-9 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory in Brownsville with a recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 7pm.

A Chapel Service will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 10 am at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow to Buena Vista Burial Park.Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Ryan Medina, Michael Galvan, Jerry Esquitin, Jerry Cortinas, Juanito Galvan and Jay Medina. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Lerma, George Gavito, Dan Galvan, Bobby Galvan, Santana Galvan Jr., Joey Carrizales, Eddie Joe Esquitin, Nicho Ortiz, Jesse Munoz, JP Benny Ochoa III and Guadalberto Gonzalez.
