I was sorry to hear of Dirk's passing.
I am also from Baraboo.
Dirk & I attended the same church, St.John Lutheran and were confirmed in the same class.
Dirk was my locker partner in Junior High.
I have lived in the Chicago area most of my adult life, both in the city & suburbs.
I have attended many of my high school class reunions, however I don't remember seeing Dirk at them.
The last time I talked with Dirk was when he was an insurance agent after I had inherited my mother's house in Baraboo.
I wish I had been able to reconnect with Dirk at some point more recently.
My thoughts will be with him & his extended family.

Karen,
I'll always remember Dirk lurking around trying to get candid photos of people at church, me included. His photographic exhibits at our Art Fairs were extraordinary. Those cherished memories will stay forever. And to you, Karen, I'm sending lots of love.

Dear Karen,
Those were the days at NSUC! Always ready for the best photo. The wedding, what a super affair and the fogotten shoes. Hugs, Marge

Karen that was such a wonderful tribute to Dirk. I am so sorry that I never got to meet Dirk, he sounds like such a special guy.
I can´t imagine what a hole this has left in your life. You are such a strong person, I know you will manage to keep going, as I am sure that is what Dirk would have wanted. You are in my thoughts daily.

Karen and family. I am so sorry to hear this news. I met you both through church, and I always liked him as a genuine, smart, decent, and ultra talented human -- we also shared the same passion for politics. His photos captured the essence of people and places -- he often saw what others could not. I well remember your wedding -- your gorgeous dress and shoes you had to hurry home to get -- and how happy you both were. My thoughts are with you. Wendy Anderson

Your remembrance is the way to hold him close, not in death but in the life he lived.
