Diva Davis

(pronounced Dy' va) Diva was born March 30, 1970 to Ezell and Cheryl Smith. She was educated in the Gary, IN Public School System, graduating from William A. Wirt High School in 1988. She attended the University of Louisville (U of L) in Louisville, Kentucky and remained an avid Louisville Cardinal supporter. Diva had many career ventures including being a licensed Real Estate Broker and found her passion as an American Airlines Flight Attendant. She always loved flying. As a child, her parents would take her to O'Hare International Airport as an all day outing and watch the planes take off and land, which was before all the security issues that are now commonplace. She was also a breast cancer survivor and became a staunch advocate for that cause. Diva fell in love and married her life mate, James Eric Davis, Sr. They were blessed with three children: Russell Matthew, James Eric Jr., and Alexis Jeneen. Diva was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ezell and Icie Mae Smith, Sr. and her maternal grandfather Solomon Britt. Diva leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving parents Ezell and Cheryl Smith, sons Elder Russell M. Davis and James E. Davis Jr., and daughter Alexis J. Davis; brother Emmitt (Sharlethia) Smith, Indianapolis, IN, maternal grandmother Velma J. Britt, Gary, IN; Uncles Donald (Lynnell) Britt, Aurora, CO, Kenneth Britt, Gary, IN, and Solomon (Brenda) Britt, Chicago, IL; and aunts: Joanne Turner, Merrillville, IN, Denise Britt, Chicago, IL, Joni Powell, Merrillville, IN, Edream (Thomas) Mallard, Broadview, IL, Estella (Chris) Anderson, Bellwood, IL and Miranda (Gerald) Williams, Coats, NC. Diva's God (sent) sisters: Zakiya (Darrell) Shoto, Plainfield, IL, Madge (Rev. Bruce) Douglas, Plainfield, IL and Trevia Montgomery, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, along with a host of cousins, nephews, friends and co-workers.
