Dollie F. Grass, 84, of New Castle died the morning of Aug. 21, 2009, in Golden Hill Nursing Home.Born Oct. 26, 1924, in Charleston, W.Va., she was the daughter of Walter and Goldie Smithson Hodges.She married Robert L. Grass Sr. on May 27, 1945. He preceded her in death.Mrs. Grass was employed by Sears in Maryland, where she was a collector.She was a member of First Church of God.Dollie especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed reading and crafts.She was a member of the Eastern Star and TOPS and was a Girl Scout Leader.Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert L. Jr. and Linda K. Grass of New Castle and David C. Grass of Grand Junction, Colo.; two daughters and sons-in-law, G. Sharon and James Bromley of New Castle and Patricia F. and Michael Bembenek of Ellicott City, Md.; one brother, James Hodges of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one sister, Goldie F. Curry of Durbin, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Sean Grass of Lubbock, Texas, Eric Grass of Pittsburgh, Ronald Bromley of Bowling Green, Fla., Terry Bromley of Beaumont, Calif., Michelle Reiter of New Castle, James Bromley II of Chandler, Ariz., and Matthew and Ian Bembenek of Ellicott City, Md.; seven great-grandchildren, Dylan Grass, Nicole and Justin Bromley, Rebecca and Rachel Reiter, and Ashley and Kara Bromley; and one great-great-granddaughter, Sophia Morton.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Walter HodgesVisitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Church of God, Euclid Avenue. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The Rev. William Hunley will officiate.
