BELLEVUE — Dolores E. (Heter) Frost, 89, of Bellevue, Ohio passed away in Bellevue Hospital from complications from a fall, on Thursday, January 14, 2016.
Dolores "Dea" was born November 18, 1926 to T.R. Heter and Bessie V. (Shutt) Heter. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1944 and Ohio Business College in 1947. During those war years, she also worked at New Departure in Sandusky, Ohio on the assembly line supporting the U.S. war effort. Dea lived her entire life in Bellevue, Ohio and was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Before macular degeneration took her eyesight, she was an active member in the Bellevue community. She was a Bellevue Hospital volunteer, served on the altar committee of St. John's, and enjoyed playing bridge on a regular basis. She worked at the Norfolk Southern Railroad for almost 30 years, and retired in 1988.
She enjoyed going out for dinner and loved animals, especially her pets — Corky, her Boston Terrier; Bama and Cinni, her kitties; and her son's kitty, Nipper. Since 2014, she had been living at Orchard Grove Assisted Living in Bellevue. Many of her friends from Bellevue and St. Johns Church also were living there.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia "Pat" Callaghan, Bellevue; Le-Ann (John) Horton, Albany Ohio; and son, John J. Frost, Bellevue; five grandchildren: Holly (Joe) Cowan, Birmingham, Alabama; Brandon Horton (financee, Heather Boyd), Carmel, Indiana; Allison J. Horton, Prairie Village, Kansas; Mitchel (Stephanie) Frost, Willard Ohio; Jacob Frost, Bellevue; six great-grandchildren: Mallory, Marley, and Jack Cowan and Decon, Icelynn, and Rarity Frost; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and only sister and brother-in-law, Marjory and Vernon VanFleet; and her ex-husband, Gene "Moke" Frost.
Friends and family may call at St John's Lutheran Church on Saturday, Jan. 23 with viewing from 10 to 11 a.m., funeral services 11:15 to Noon and burial at Bellevue Cemetery immediately following the service. A luncheon will be provided by the ladies of St. Johns following the burial ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Stein Hospice of Sandusky; St. John's Preschool; Sandusky, Huron, Erie or your local humane society; or Bellevue Fish and Loaves.
