Dolores Oakes Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 18, 2024.
Oakes, Dolores J. "Tootie" (nee Weigand), 95 of Margate passed away peacefully at Woodview Estates Assisted Living on November 9, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she and her husband John started their family and moved to Margate in 1969 when John began his long and successful career at Atlantic City Hospital (now AtlantiCare). Tootie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was very important to her. She loved to read and to "dig in the dirt," watching her beautiful flowers grow. Her roast beef dinners, macaroni & cheese, and tapioca pudding were phenomenal. She is now at rest with the love of her life, our Dad. They shared 50 years of love and laughter. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her devoted children, Nancy Wentz (Ray), John (Mary) and Jim (Lisa); her beloved grandchildren, Gabriel (Rachel), Will, Joe (Rayanna), James (Stephanie), John, and Heidi (Rob); and her much loved great-grands, Presley, Charlie, Harlow, Beckett, Brianna, Greyson, and many nieces and nephews. Our family is so grateful to Leighanne Campbell, Mom's amazing caregiver and companion for the last three years. Leighanne's loving devotion to our Mom has made her family to all of us. A special thank you to Shari Kaminski, APN and the staff at Woodview Estates for the many kindnesses shown to Tootie. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in Mays Landing in the Spring of 2025, when the flowers begin to bloom again. Arrangements by the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, Linwood - Ventnor.
