Osteen is being remembered as "Mama Dodie," a beloved church matriarch and woman of faith.

I met Ms. Osteen many times during prayer time and I feel through her prayers for me has made me a Faith filled member of Lakewood Church.
God called her home as she completed her course.

Ms Dodie truly walked her talk and was very sincere and thoughtful. When I saw her at a local cafeteria she frequented, we warmly smiled at each other in line and I later handed her a note that God put on my heart to write to her while I was there. I told her I didn't want to disturb her meal and asked her to read it later after she left. I sat at a table that was outside her view in a corner of a back room with my family. But Ms. Dodie looked all over the restaurant to find me. She had obviously read my note asking for her to keep my very ill husband in her prayers. She asked us if she could pray for us right there at our table. Ms. Dodie gifted us with prayer cloths and graced us with her powerful prayers. My husband and I were extremely touched and moved to tears. We thank God for blessing us with this beautiful encounter with Ms. Dodie and the opportunity to witness the pure, unselfish kindness and love of this humble Christian. "Well done, good and faithful servant".

I sang in Lakewood choir many years ago. One evening when we were at the church practicing, Dodie was out in the new sanctuary, wiping down the new seats. She was so humble, smiled, and commented that someone needed to do it because we were in God's house. She was warm and her attitude made you want to help her. When practice was over, I stayed for two hours wiping down those seats and praying over them. It was a true blessing to know such a down to earth honorable person, and family. Our family has been going to Lakewood since 1998 John in old building and loved how he loved Dodie on the platform. I kept all the hand written thank you notes over the years for faithful giving.
