Dolores Theobald

E. Dolores Theobald (née Beatty), age 91, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, in Maineville, Ohio. Born on May 20, 1933, in Darby, Pennsylvania, she lived a long and meaningful life. She was called to The Salvation Army ministry in 1953 and served as an officer till 1976 earning the rank of Major. She resigned her commission as a Major to marry Maurice Theobald on November 20, 1976 and became stepmother to his grown children. She continued to work for The Salvation Army in the Corrections Department till she retired in 1994 in Spring Hill, Florida. She and Maurice spent many years together in Florida enjoying simple pleasures that brought people together-especially playing Rummikub and Dominoes.

Dolores continued to live in Florida after Maurice's passing in 2010 with the assistance of her stepson, George, who lived nearby. In September, 2024 she moved to Maineville, Ohio to live with her only sibling, Kathleen Smullen.

Dolores was a devoted member of The Salvation Army Port Richey Corps, and found great joy and purpose in her faith community. Her spiritual commitment was a guiding force throughout her life.

She is survived by her sister Kathleen Smullen; stepson George Theobald; stepdaughter Orma Jean Wintemute; nephews Kevin (Marcia) Stephens and Shawn Stephens; niece Kristen Tompkins; and grandchildren, great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. Dolores was looking forward to meeting the Lord. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A Promotion to Glory Service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 11:00am, at The Salvation Army Center Hill Corps, located at 6381 Center Hill Ave, Cincinnati Ohio.
