My family and I met Mr. Looney late in life one day at Luby´s Restaurant on Hulen St. Mr. Looney kept smiling at my young son, Jason and eventually gave him some coins out of his pocket. This pretty much made Jason´s day. It was clear what a kind, generous man Mr. Looney was, and we certainly enjoyed meeting him and visiting with him. Our sincerest condolences to The family of Mr. Looney. May he Rest In Peace in the loving arms of our Lord.

Don Looney was one of the greatest men if not the greatest I have ever known. He was like a Father to me and my family. He will surely be missed. Bob Traywick

Don was so kind and helpful to me when I was researching the biography of Joe Don, 3rd Down & Forever. I wanted Don to be pleased with the book because it was, after all, a father-son story. J. Brent Clark, Norman, OK

My Dad, Bud Taylor, also played with Mr. Looney on the 1938 TCU National Championship Team, Great memories of Don & Joe Don. My prayers are with the family. RIP Tom Taylor

My Dad, too, played ball with Mr.Looney, Dr. Mayne, and Mr. Kerlee and Sheriff Evans carted me home for my adolescence indiscretions.

I grew up on Highview Terrace and pitched medicine balls with Joe Don.... Fort Worth was a magic time with all of TCU greats from the 1935 and 1938 Football Championships.

God bless them all, and all of their families.

My dad, Mason Mayne, played football with Don at T.C.U. I always enjoyed hearing their football stories. As a good friend, Don would come to the ranch and help my dad work calves. Thoughts and prayers to the family during this difficult time. CMS

My Dad, Enis Kerlee, was a member of the 1938 team with Mr. Looney. He has been in Heaven for five years now, but he loved to talk about what the team did and their travels and awards. May the Lord bless the Looney family.
