DON C. PEETE

Don C. Peete, 85, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2016 at his home. Don was born August 26, 1930 in Kansas City, MO. to Alice and Dr. Don Carlos Peete. He was a graduate of Pembroke Country Day School where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science-Business Administration and played on the varsity baseball team. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Don served as special agent, Counter Intelligence Corp.-U.S. Army during the Korean War. He interrogated POW's from the Korean War and investigated Communist cell groups. Don was Vice President of First Mortgage Investment Co., Sr. Vice President and Treasurer of National Fidelity Life Insurance Co., and Vice President of ERC Corp. He was president of Don C. Peete & Assoc., founded in 1980. He was a member of The Appraisal Institute, Mortgage Bankers Assoc., Kansas City Club and Indian Hills Country Club. Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Embree Peete, son Douglas R. Peete (Dawn) of Leawood, daughter Nanette Wooten (Kent) of Mission Hills, five grandchildren: Katie (Mike), Kelley (Andrew), Dan (Liz), Lake (Alicia), Ross (Cass) and one great granddaughter, Eden. Don loved being with his family, he enjoyed their place in Vail, loved to play golf and read. He played in all five of the Jerry Ford Golf Tournaments in Vail, Colorado. The family wants to thank our dedicated caregivers Beth, McKenzie and Lonni. They made each day special for Don.
