To the Wheaton family - I know that it has been a long time since Mr. Don Wheaton has passed and I am sorry that I haven't acknowledged it but since I am writing a fond memory in the Senior Magazine (Regina) I feel honoured to have known him when he had his business in Porcupine Plain. My dad worked for him (book keeper) and I being a teenager did odd jobs for him also. Don was very good to dad and our family. He truly was an honourable man!
My condolences.

While on a vacation I received the sad news of Don Sr.
My last visit with He and Marion was the day they were moving from the old "After Eight" to the most spectacular new yacht, each handling wheel barrels back and forth along the docks at the Van Isle Marina a few years ago. I always enjoyed when my husband and I were sailing in the Gulf Islands we would see that the After Eight had shared many of the same beautiful spots we had.
My Heart goes out to all the Family, Don Sr. was one of a kind and will never be forgotten. I had the privilege of meeting most of the family when I worked at Don Wheatons on Whyte many years back.
Sincerely, Karen (two-names) Nelson-Mitchell,now LeDrew

Dear Marion and Family,
This is truly a sad day for all. Our family knew your family from the "Porcupine" days, but met occationally from time to time for a chat thru the years and Don was always the same. Dad bought all of his cars thru a Wheaton dearlership! Both of you meant so much to our Mom and Dad and to us. Faye and I stopped in for a chat with Don on Whyte Ave a few years ago and he knew us on sight. He will be missed by so many.
Our sympathy at this very sad time.

They now need a street named after Don Wheaten, perhaps near Whyte ave dealership, any ideas anyone? Hey Don Sr. your looking down on us all. Hope your also proud that folk can enter your name in the Guinness world records website (write Don Wheaton in "search" then enter) and see your name associated even with a push up world record of all things. Such a world class guy man. Thanks for the memories and for helping to build a world class YMCA. The world record with "your name on it too" is in the YMCA. Man oh man what a neat guy Don. You maybe were not looking for that to happen but it did. So neat. "Don Wheaton on a Guinness world record certificate" Your handshake is as good as gold.

We talked about Don quite a bit recently as it was only three weeks ago that our family dealt with the passing of our husband and father Howard Johnson. We remembered the significance of Howard's time at Wheaton's; the pleasure that Rose and Howard took in Don and Marion's company. We appreciated the attendance of Wheaton family members at Howard's funeral and will see them again this week under too similar circumstances.
