Donald Wayne Barclay Sr.

Donald Wayne Barclay, Sr, age 92, entered into rest on May 12, 2009 in Aiken, South Carolina. Don was formerly a resident of Beaver, Pennsylvania for 85 years before moving to Aiken, SC in 2001. He was born in Beaver PA, June 22, 1916, one of two children born to Earl Wayne Barclay and Julia Ann Lohry. He was a graduate of Beaver High School in 1934 and attended Geneva College. He was a veteran of the U S Army; he fought with the 752nd R.O.B. attached to the 1st & 3rd Army Combat Engineers. During World War II he served in France, Belgium, the Rhineland and Central Europe. During his service he was awarded numerous campaign medals including two Bronze Stars. He retired in 1977 as Superintendent of Maintenance and Construction, Seamless Tube Division of Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation.. Don was a member of the Park United Presbyterian Church, Beaver, PA for over 50 years and attended the Millbrook Baptist Church while residing with his daughter, in Aiken, SC. He was a member of the Masonic Temple, St James Lodge 457 F&AM in Beaver. Don was a licensed recreational pilot since 1935 flying out of Patterson Heights Airport. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips throughout the United States with both his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Delores Hoyt Barclay in 1997, a sister, Earlene Barclay Shaw and two half brothers, Paul St. Clair and Charles Vanderslice. Four Grandsons, James( Jacy) and Robert (Bo) McClinton , Sean Barclay, and Michael Como. One son-in –law, Gregory L. White, Sr. Surviving are his children, Rev. Donald W. Barclay Jr and wife Cathy of Sunset Beach, NC; Brent M. Barclay and wife Ruth of Aiken, SC; R. Duff Barclay and wife M. Dee of Beaver, PA; Marnee Barclay McClinton and husband James, of Aiken, SC; Barbara Barclay White of Beaver Falls, PA and Kathy Barclay of Beaver, PA. There are 12 surviving Grandchildren; Donald W. Barclay III and wife Dana of Cranberry Twp, PA; Timothy Barclay and wife Lynn of Forest, VA; Heidi Feltrop, Beaver Falls, PA; Scott McClinton and wife Susan of Lutherville, MD; Ellie McClinton, Aiken, SC; Brette Barron and husband Dan of Bakersville, NC; Brent Barclay JR and wife Holly of Cranberry Twp, PA; Kerri Zlokis of Sanford, FL; Heather Smith and husband Eric of Canton, GA; Gregory White, JR and wife Kelly of Thousand Oaks, CA; R. Duff Barclay, JR of Daniels Island, SC; Hallie Rhoate, Everet, PA. Stephanie Como, Beaver, PA. There are 28 Great Grandchildren. A memorial service officiated by Rev. Donald W. Barclay Jr. will be announced at a later date by the family. He will be laid to rest along side his wife, Lorcy at the Beaver Cemetery, Beaver, PA.
