Oh Don, thank you for spending the time with me, guiding me through hunters passing the past decade. There was never a moment you were unavailable to share grief, joy, memories, and spiritual knowledge. You always held a very special place in my heart from the day we met. I hope Hunter and the animals embraced and continue to meet you when you got to wherever this crazy life takes you when you finish your life journey, I know how much you´ve missed him.
Much much love, Liz.

As a young boy walking the streets of my west side neighborhood in Buffalo, just the mere sight of the six foot seven inch giant, known as Donnie Barton, would send me running to my backyard. My teenage years and beyond found me befriending this mammoth man and realizing what a great guy he was! Saddens my heart to hear that another West sider has Fallen. Rest in peace big man!!!

Searching for my dear whom I lost contact with over the years I found out Donnie was gone.
It is with a heavy heart that I try to digest this news.
We spent many a night in Buffalo enjoying life.
Rest in peace brother.

Don loved to visit the animals at the Pittsburgh zoo and share healing energy with the lions and other animals. If they were sleeping he would concentrate on putting a thought in their head to see if he could get them to open their eyes. He felt a kinship with all animals but especially the big cats and the gorillas.

Donny was a remarkable person. I feel fortunate to have known him. My condolences to Lisa, his children, his siblings and other family members as well as his many friends. Donny was a very strong person but he had a gentle side to him. I never knew anyone that loved paintings and animals as much as he did. He once told me "I can't turn an animal away." And Donny stood up for the underdog and the less fortunate. I recall that this one special ed young kid came into his art and antique store on Carson and handed him a birthday card. I don't know how that kid knew it was Donny's birthday but he did. Donny got real emotional over that. Rest in peace Donny. You touched a lot of people's lives.
