Donald Bean Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 5, 2025.
Donald "Don" P. Bean Jr., a retired US Air Force Hyperbaric Chamber Tester, and later, a Carpenter, unexpectedly passed away on January 30, 2025. Don was born in San Jose, CA, traveled numerous locations with the US Air Force, then moved to Lubbock, Texas where he met the love of his life, Cyndy Albright. They married in 1979 and later had their beloved son, Benjamin. Shortly after, Don retired from the Air Force and they moved to Arlington, Texas, on a wish and a prayer (but no plans). After a few years, Don and the family moved to Crowley, Texas, where they established roots, raised Ben, and made countless meaningful friendships.

Don was a devoted husband, brother, uncle, friend, and father, but found his true calling as a "Paw Paw". The birth of his two granddaughters, Addison and Reagan, gave him a new purpose that he never wavered from. A family man indeed, Don loved his family with his whole heart, including those not related by blood. Although very humorous with a rich sense of humor, he didn't fill a room with booming laughter or command attention, rather he remained the steady heartbeat for those in the room. He was a man that knew no limits when it came to his family and friends.

To celebrate the life of Don Bean, Jr., and the friends made, a Celebration of Life will be held on February 8th, 2025, from 1p-7p at his son's residence. Please contact Cyndy, Ben, or Laura Bean for more details.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Cyndy Bean; his son, Ben Bean and daughter-in-law Laura Bean; his grandchildren, Addison and Reagan Bean; sister, Cheryl Guerra with her spouse Daniel Guerra; brother, Paul Bean and girlfriend Susan; nephew, James Guerra and girlfriend Whitney Nagel; and many other nephews, cousins, and a large host of friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Maxine Bean.

I still remember playing catch with Don before our little league games. He was a great guy and I´m glad I got to see him so many times these past few years. My prayers and my heart go out to you Cindy.

I met Don in 1976 in Big Spring, TX, where he was coaching my nephew and his little league team. He was a natural teacher and the kids liked him. Don's brother and my ex-husband, Paul, was managing the team. They were so close as brothers. I'm sad that Don has left his beautiful family, and I know he will keep them close until they meet again. So to Cyndy, Ben, Laura and his grandgirls, I wish you peace as you go on together. To Cheryl, Don's sister, and Daniel, his brother-in-law, I pray that you'll keep strong and know that Don is with your parents.

An extremely funny "hippy" showed up to a soccer game our daughter was playing. Turned out he was the grandfather of one her best friends, Addy. He showed up to each and every game without fail, and even wound up (willingly) taking our daughter to practice. His heart was so big, so genuine that you couldn´t help but love him from the day you met him! It is always so painful when those you love go before you, but I have faith we will see him again!
