Marin, I am so sorry for your loss. I read an article in the Financial Post about your father. He was a remarkable man and truly left his mark on the world and the communities he touched. My deepest Sympathy.

Dear Rae,
Please accept my sincere condolences on Don's passing. I know that he will be sorely missed by you and your children. He was such a nice man. I regret that I never properly expressed my gratitude to the both of you for your many kindnesses. I have fond memories of the occasions that we were guests at your beautiful house in the woods. The job as a "guard" that Don helped me get at his wonderful Edmonton Art Gallery got a whole housefull of us through a hard winter.
Sincerely, Buck Richards

Dear Rae and kids,
I was one of the hitchhiking "draft dodgers" that you and Don picked up on the road between Calgary and Edmonton in 1969 whom Wiz described in the newspaper article on Don's death. Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss, which will be a loss to me and my wife, Margaret, and my friend Buck Richards, as well. I remember Don and you as particularly open, friendly, and kind to all of us who crossed your path. Partly as a result of you and Don's encouragement and guidance, I stayed in Canada and raised a family with Margaret. Now my family is making their way around the world, as I was doing when I met the two of you. Every time I walk past or into the Edmonton Art Gallery (even the new one under construction), I think of you and Don and your friendliness and kindness. In peace, I salute Don and you and your family.

Many years ago I was high school student resolved to get a summer job in architects office. Most offices were not receptive to my unschedule arrival, but Don gave me an hour of his time and a lot of good career advice - some of which I acted on and some of which I did not, time would show me that he was right on all of it. I have never forgotten how generous he was with his time and had a chance to remind him about it years later. He made a significant impression on me that I will not forget.

What a wonderful description of Don. My thoughts are with you and the family, Rae. Many memories -Don was an Edmonton "Highlands" co-hort of my husband, and I remember visiting you in your spare "cushions on the floor" Lemarchand apartment as newlyweds. Don designed a family home for us in 1962, with his trademark chocolate brown exterior, where we spent many happy years, in Edmonton Valleyview. Also many happy beach days with our children at Pigeon Lake. My youngest grandson, Heather's Logan is in the Cantilon Choir with Sya so I see Wiz occasionally. Am now living in the Country Club area. Hope to see you in February. Lois
