Mr. Donald Mark Cassells

DONALD �MARK� CASSELLS FAYETTEVILLE - Donald Mark Cassells, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2007 at Heartland of Beckley following an extended illness. Born on November 29, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Mark and Annie Agnus McGinnis Cassells. Mark was best known in this area as an Op Ed writer for the Register Herald. In Michigan he owned and developed one of the largest Tastee Freeze franchises in the country. A founder and president of Michigan Soft Serve and Fast Food Association. After retiring he was active in selling real estate. He often said his most fun job was as a Wal Mart greeter. Mark was a WWII veteran and after the war earned an engineering degree from Illinois Institute of Technology. Left to cherish his fond memory are his wife, Virginia Cassells of Fayetteville; son, Steve Cassells and wife, Lori of St. Louis, MO; daughters, Naomi and Julia Cassells, both of Fayetteville; son, Jim Cassells and his wife, Caroline of Lansing, MI; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brother, Howard Cassells and his wife, Naoma of AZ; brother-in-law, Wayne Zeigler and wife, Eunice of Iowa; and sister-in-law, Marian Sparks of Colorado. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 17, 2007 at the Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with Rev. Lee Sparks officiating.
