Donald Cosby Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 31, 2025.
Don Cosby lived 86 glorious years and always had a smile for everyone. Born in Golden, IL, Don made his home in Richmond, VA for more than 60 years. He will be remembered for his ever-present kindness, always being the helping hand to friends, and the joy he found in his family. A child of the automobile age, Don enjoyed nothing more than "seeing the USA in a Chevrolet."

He and his beloved wife, Suellen, had road trip adventures all over the country, and they loved visiting Pennsylvania each fall to sample the wonderful food, sights and sounds of the Dutch country. He was a favorite at his senior bowling league, and his bargain finds at yard sales became the stuff of legend. He was a lifetime brother with the Westhampton Lodge (no. 302).

Don was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, Mason, neighbor and friend. His love for family and community, both in Richmond and in Suellen's West Virginia hometown, will continue to have an impact through the lives that he touched. He was endlessly kind and caring to everyone.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly; his "favorite" (and only) grandson, Trey; and son-in-law, Bill; his sister-in-law, Donna; and beloved cousins Kay, Thelma and Ruth, as well as his sister-in-law, Betty Funkhouser; sister-in-law, Elke Taylor, and brother-in-law, Ralph Taylor. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

The family shares its sincere appreciation to the loving teams at Sunrise Tuckahoe Village and Suncrest Hospice for their compassionate care and love they shared with Don.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Bliley's Funeral Home, 3801 Augusta Avenue, in Richmond. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, and reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dunmore Cemetery Fund, c/o Baxter Presbyterian Church, 15249 Browns Creek Rd. Dunmore, WV 24934, are appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.blileys.com.
