MARTIN, SR., Carlton Nelson Of Nashville, passed from this life on July 14, 2010. He was born on July 26, 1939, the ninth child of William Lee Martin, Sr. and Penelope (Penny) Reed Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Julius and Eugene Martin; sisters, Allene Escue and Elizabeth Keeler. Survived by son, Marty Martin and wife Melodee; daughter, Elizabeth James and husband Dennis; grandchildren, Ragen and Blaise Martin, Bailey, Bryan and Brooklyn James; brothers, Bill, Vernon and Douglas Martin, and sister, Margaret Brewer. Carlton lived his life in East Nashville. After proudly serving 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, he returned to East Nashville and was employed by Taystee Bread Co. until they closed. He was then employed by Bill Martin's Food Stores until his retirement in October, 2009. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Visitation will be Friday, 3 till 8 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. till services, which will begin at 11 a.m. in the Eastland Chapel, with Bro. Greg Smith and Bro. Clay Faircloth officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Nephews will serve as Pallbearers. EASTLAND FUNERAL HOME, (615) 227-9558.

Elizabeth, I always remember your dad being very kind, and I spent a lot of time at your house as a kid. You and your family did a wonderful job of being there and taking care of him. I will be thinking of all of you. Remember, to call me anytime you need an ear... I am here!
