Dear Sheila,
I'm sorry to hear about Don's death. I hope he always had as much fun in life as he seemed to when we were all younger. I remember him fondly.

Dearest Sheila: Was so sorry to hear of Don's passing. You guys were one of the first people I met when moving to Tucson in 1971. We had some good times together. Please accept our deepest sympathies.

Sheila, Jen, and Julie,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember Don as always being a supportive, concerned parent, and it was obvious that he took great pride in and had great love for his family.

Jen, Sheila and Julie,
I am so sorry for your loss and am thinking of you and the kids everyday. I wish I had gotten to know Don more, but I remember the few times I met him so fondly and know him through all the stories Jen has told me. I know he was very intelligent, admirable and loving. I hope those memories are a comfort. My sympathy and thoughts are with you.

To Sheila, Julie & Jennifer:
I am so deeply sorry for the loss of Don. I met Don when Julie and I were in pre-school together. I have many memories of him making us all laugh during our numerous sleepovers. He was such a happy man and loved each of you so very much. He will be missed. My love to all of you and may God bless you during this difficult time.
Love,
Andrea, Danny, Gina & Daniel

Don leaves a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. I was fornunate to work with him at Morenci, especially getting the chance to play poker with him at his home in Morenci, where Sheila (and the girls) had to put up with our smoking cigars. More than that, my being a geologist relying on the assays from the Morenci lab it was comforting to know Don was in charge because he ran a really tight ship. He wouldn't accept anything without being sure everything was ship-shape. I recall a time we wanted to add a new procedure to our regularally requested analyses. This procedure was run elsewhere successfully, and the analytical method was tested and found reliable. That wasn't good enough for Don, he had to thouroughly review the test and then made some revisions to make it better. Specifically, he cut the amount of sample for the analysis in half, thus saving on reagents to run the procedure, while insuring quality. In the end, his procedure was adopted by Phelps Dodge as the "standard" way to run the test. I'll miss Don. My condolences to Sheila and the girls. Sorry I can't be at the Memorial Service but I'm in Africa. Don and I worked on the PD project in Zambia, but that's another story!

I don't remember Jen and Julie's dad too well, because I saw him in spurts but I remember he was funny and good. He was obviously many great things because his daughters are great people. He was good to his wife and his girls. I know they will miss him and his role in their children's lives also. He lived a good life and created beautiful people. :) I know he will be missed.

Don was a wonderful person to work with because of his intelligence and enthusiasm. He enjoyed the challenge of problems and working out their solutions. A devoted family man and good friend. He has left his mark. My deepest sympathy to Sheila and family.
