Donald Gianquinto Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 31, 2025.
Donald Gianquinto, 91, of Venice, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by Marian, his wife of 46 years, and family members on January 26, 2025.

Don was born in Chicago, IL on July 1, 1933, to Salvatore and Madeline Gianquinto and was raised in Mineola, NY. After serving in the U.S. Army, he moved to Illinois where he lived and raised his family. Don held various rewarding and challenging positions during a 34-year career with AT&T and retired from there in 1988.

Don and Marian married in 1978 and resided in Dundee, IL before relocating in 1992 to Venice, FL where they enjoyed a long and fun-filled retirement together. Don was a dedicated member and active volunteer of Venice Presbyterian Church for 33 years. He spent much of his time fishing and golfing, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his extensive family and many friends. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife Marian (nee VanEck), Don is survived by his children; Dwain VanEck (Daryl), Dale VanEck (Beth), Don VanEck (Lyn), Linda Murray (Joe), Darrell VanEck (Penny) and Nancy Gast (Mike); twenty-four grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister; Arlene Dragon, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Bernice Gianquinto.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Venice Presbyterian Church located at 825 The Rialto, Venice, FL. 34285. The service may be viewed on the VenicePres.org website. Following the service the family will greet friends in the Glass House Café, at the church, for coffee and snacks.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Venice Presbyterian Church patio improvement fund in Don's name.
