Donald "Donnie" Goad, 69, of Hamilton St., Carlsbad, NM, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Grace Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Cremation will take place and Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the West Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Rogers of the Combined First Christian and First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Military Honors will be performed by the Carlsbad Veteran's Honor Guard. Services have been entrusted to West Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at westfuneralhomellc.com Donald Collen Goad also known as "Donnie" and "Granddad" was born in Carlsbad, NM on June 5, 1947 to Haskell and Margaret (Hendry) Goad. He spent most of his life in Carlsbad, graduating from CHS in 1966 and later received his associate's degree in 1982 from NMSU. Donnie served his country in the U.S. Air Force from October 1966 to October 1970, serving in Vietnam and the Philippines. He married Sandra Wood in 1967. He worked as a pipefitter at PCA, Western Ag, and Intrepid Potash Mine and retired from Intrepid in January 2011. Donnie enjoyed traveling with his wife, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He loved sports and helped coach little league. He was preceded in death by both parents and in-laws Betty and Herbert Wood. Donnie is survived by his wife, Sandra Goad; daughter, Carey Goad; son, Collin Goad; grandchildren, Candice Goad and Dalton Goad and great-grandchild, Koa Goad, all of Carlsbad; brother, Mike Goad of Lubbock, TX and sisters, Pam Willever of Artesia, NM and Debbie Steele of Washington state as well as his nieces and nephews.
