A note to Don,
I may have been a wee bit selfish, borrowing you as I did, to have you act as my stand in Dad for the time that you were in my life. There were so many things I would have loved to have learned from you. Just the fact that you looked like Gary Cooper to me was a plus in my book. And that was only the outside. It was the inside that melted my heart. So careful you were to use the right words and guide the conversation in a positive direction. I would look at you and think of how wonderful it must have been to be your child or grandchild but acquiesced to friendship with a touch of class, humor, tenderness and reality. I was your friend in the end and grateful for the experience.
A note to family,
Sometimes it takes a while for the right words to come to me. This is where they landed. He is my definition of a gentle man. My thoughts are with you. Kim
