When Don was in the room, his warmth, wit and good cheer made everyone feel better. A special guy.

Sweet cousin Don from your Texas family. Paul and I are so happy we were able to see you over the years when we came to visit your mom and dad. How wonderful it was of you and Carol to take care of them and the joy we always displayed even when going through tough times. You both showed us all how to find joy in sorrow and Thank You for being so very committed to your faith. We know you are in a better place and Carol and family please know we will continue to pray for God's grace and strength thru these times of sorrow.
He loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed his family so much. We remember the fishing lures he created, and patented, guaranteed to catch fish!!!
We will be out of town for the service but will keep you in our thought and prayers

My first memory would be as a little girl being held by my uncle Don. He always knew how to put a smile on my face and make me laugh. This picture would be the last time my sisters and I got to see Don a few weeks before his passing. We love you Uncle Don!

Don was one of the most naturally kind and friendly people I´ve ever met.
He was super easy to talk with, and always had a positive outlook on things. Don´s smile and laughter were contagious. His upbeat personality always added warmth to the many family gatherings we shared throughout the past few decades.
He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, as evidenced by how close he was to each of his family members.
If you didn´t like Don, you were either a weird person, a fish or a deer. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips. We all enjoyed his venison treats at holiday time.
Don´s strong religious faith was also evidenced by his commitment to the Catholic church and how he lived his life.
He loved working on various house and yard projects. If it needed to be built, fixed, or mowed, Don did it ! Plowing the driveway ... well, some things need to be outsourced.
I will miss the joyful feelings that Don created everywhere he went.
He was a wonderful role model to all of how to live a high quality caring and meaningful life. We all miss Don greatly.

He was the nicest man I knew. And when I'd come over he'd let me help him while he was on dialysis and talk with me. He treated me like I was his own daughter.
