Donald Lavery, Sr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 2, 2024.
Donald "Don" Lavery, Sr.

Passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024 at the age of 82.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Coreen (nee Turczyn), his sons Donny and Craig (Shelly), his daughter Dawn (Bob), granddaughters Rachael (Austin), Stephanie (Brian), and Jennifer, step grandson Tim (Savannah), great grandchildren Gabriel, Scarlett, Amelia, and Maddox, his brother Greg, sister-in-law Mary Sue and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents John and Edna Mae, as well as brothers John Kenneth and Ronald, and sister Donna.

After honorably serving in the Army, Don moved from Chicago to Milwaukee to help in his father's trucking business, Lavery Transportation. In Milwaukee is where he met the love of his life, Coreen, and never looked back.

For over 50 years, Don poured his dedication and work ethic into his career in the trucking industry, including being in business with his brother John Kenneth for many of them.

Don's hobbies included a passion for fishing (known to many as "Da Musky Hunter") and a serious love of sports. He was a diehard Brewers, Bucks, Packers, and Badgers fan, attending hundreds of games over the years.

Don's departure from this world leaves a void that can never be filled. Yet, those who were fortunate enough to have known him will continue to carry his spirit within them. The countless memories he created will be cherished forever. Don lived a life that was full, vibrant, and utterly unforgettable. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.

I'm Joey, Coreens brother. Don was always kind to me. I hadn't seen him in many years, but I remember Don like it were yesterday. What i remember is that he always smiled and made you smile when he was in a room with you. Between my sister and his children he had a beautiful family. He will be missed, but not forgotten.
