Don graduated from Pembroke Academy, Pembroke, NH. He was an undergraduate at Worcester Polytechnical Institute, Worcester, MA and did his Ph.D at New York Univerity. His educational and teaching focus was in Austrian Economics and Philosophy. He authored many books and papers on the same.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John M. Lavoie.
Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Gialdo Lavoie; two sons, John M. Lavoie and Mark A. Lavoie; one daughter, Gabrielle M. Lavoie; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Lavoie, and three sisters, Patricia A. Sanborn, Judith M. Race and Joanne E. Ryan, all of New Hampshire.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2001 at PRICE FUNERAL HOME, 9609 Center St., Manassas, VA, where a memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, with Pastor John Glass and Dr. Jack High officiating.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Amnesty International USA, 322 8th Avenue, New York, NY 10001 or The Fund for American Studies, 1706 New Hampshire Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20009 in memory of Donald C. Lavoie.
