Donald Howard Leslie Nov. 30, 1944 — Feb. 28, 2009 FORT WAYNE — Donald Howard Leslie, 64, died at 4:30 a.m., Saturday in the home of his daughter in Fort Wayne, from stomach cancer. Donald was born November 30, 1944, in Muncie, the son of Stanley Lewis Leslie and Cordy Rose Dowdy. In 1962, Don enrolled at Indiana University, graduating in 1966 with a degree in French and English and began teaching junior high school in Anderson shortly afterward. He taught school for five years. He earned a law degree from IUPUI in 1971 and began practicing law that same year as a Police Legal Advisor in Marion. He opened his own office in 1972 and practiced law for 36 years, until his illness forced him to retire. Don was a great lover of music, art, and literature as well as of his family and all of his friends. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. On June 5, 1971, Don married Judith Anne Parks. They divorced in 1999. They had six children together. Survivors include children, Kami (Rich) Beck, Sandy, Utah, Kari (Adam) Gregory, Fort Wayne, Coby (Mame) Leslie, Atlanta, Ga., Kati (Josh) Heileson, Provo, Utah and Cory (Jessica) Leslie, Ellisville; brother, Carl Wayne Leslie, Clinton, Ill. Don also had thirteen grandchildren; He was preceded in death by child, Cody Leslie and a sister, Mary Jane Perdieu Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009 in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1465 E. Bradford Street, Marion. Burial will be in Muncie at the Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion. Online condolences may be made at nswcares.com.
