Donald MACLEOD Obituary
With sadness, the MacLeod family announces that The Honourable Donald I. MacLeod QC passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the age of 76 years. A well-known member of the legal community, Don began his career with a degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Alberta, and a law degree from the University of British Columbia. He returned to Calgary after graduation, where he practiced as a litigator. In 1977, he was appointed Queen's Counsel in recognition of his contribution to the legal profession and public life. In 1990, he was appointed to the Court of Queen's Bench where he sat until his retirement in 2008. Don made many contributions to the community through volunteer work in politics, the arts, athletics, and education, and with professional associations. Don is survived by his spouse Lynne, his children Roger (Terri), Rhondda (David), Wesley, and Bruce (Tanya), and by his grandchildren Heather, Anna, Ashley, Nicole, Hailey, Owen, Katelyn and Cameron. A Memorial Service and reception will be held at the Calgary Winter Club (4611 - 14 Street N.W.) on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alberta Theatre Projects (www.atplive.ca). Bruce and family
I was an articling student at MacLeod Lyle Smith McManus Your dad was a kind man who always treated even the students in his firm with respect. I had many interesting conversations with him. We used to get together for a coffee once in awhile when he was sitting in Medicine Hat i was touched that he wanted to do that. I am sorry for your loss.

we celebrated with Don at the Ksig house and again when he won his appointments..sorry we will not be able to celebrate his wonderful life on fri. I remember a little phrase from KSig days ..if my memory does not fail,,it went,,AEKDELTAB...brothers in the heart through life..so true..so sad. wellwishes to you all..Patricia and colin duncan canmore ab.

Lynne, I was moved when reading of Don's death to evoke memories of times shared with Don when we were all young. He and Alan were in the same class at UBC. Alan thought very highly of him and I so enjoyed his company. Thinking of you at this time.
