Don was such a great guy! We were in the engineering program together at the U of S. My favorite memory of Don is that he was ambidextrous and would write notes in class with both hands.

So sorry to hear about Donald's passing. Far too soon, far too young. Our deepest condolences to the whole Mah family.

One of the smartest kids I was lucky enough to have grown up with during the elementary school days. The best memories were sleeping over at his house and his dad bringing home samples from Wah Qua. Truly missed.

Don was truly one of the good souls I have met in this life. One of my favourite memories was sharing a "secret" that we had bumped into each other at a David Suzuki lecture - though it was considered too "radical" to discuss openly at work !!

I am very sorry for your loss. It only seems like just a few years ago that we said good bye to your father and now you are faced with the loss of your brother. I remember Donald as quiet but smiling often and he just enjoyed life. He was always at the top of our class but humble at the same time. I was lucky to have him as a friend growing up.

I met Don through work and he was smart, serious, committed and loved and was deeply proud of his job. We became friends and I was lucky to get to know sensitive and vulnerable Don. His sweet energy and lovely eyes melted my heart over and over again. I loved you for everything you were Don. Miss you and I will remember you.

Everyone who was fortunate enough to work with Don, will miss him. His positive spirit was encouraging, and he knew how to lighten the mood. As an environmental engineer, Don worked with the Stantec water group for 10 years, and played key roles on many projects. He was always there to help in any capacity he could and he rarely said no to any requests for help. He always took the time to answer questions, explain concepts, and he even took his project team to site to demonstrate the process of developing a design concept and ultimately delivering a complete project. His dedication to his work and his team was inspiring. No matter what the event, Don rarely missed the opportunity to participate. Winning Fun Night Pool Awards many times, playing in the Stantec golf tournament, or just being a part of many team building events; Don was always a team player.

His positive spirit will be sorely missed among his Stantec peers.

My heart aches at the sudden loss of my best guy friend. The first time I met Don I was immediately drawn to his genuine smile, intellengence and quick witt. Over the years he never ceased to amaze me. I have never met someone with more of a will to succeed and determination to overcome any obstacle in the way. His passion and drive were truly inspiring and his legacy will live on through the thousands of lives that he has touched during his short time on this earth.

When he was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer last year he decided to be joyful about having had a full life, rather than sad about having to die. He maintained optimism and humor throughout numerous surgeries and chemotherapy treatements and went through his passing in quiet strength and dignity - concerned more about the people he loved than his own personal suffering.

I love you Don. You are my real life super hero. Forever in my heart until me meet again - and when we do you'd better be ready for our chicken soup cookoff :)

My husband Mike and I are saddened to hear of Don's passing. As neighbors for five years, Don was always kind, courteous and willing to help anyone out with anything (all with a big smile). Our sincere condolences to the Mah family.
