Debi-My sister Tammy was your dad's caregiver the last couple of years, and I got a chance to meet and visit with your dad on several occasions. He was a delight to be around. We loved his WW 2 stories; I hope that you have or will have the opportunity to record his memories before they are lost. The story he told about being lost over Germany, following the railroad lines until they could see a junction, all the while the co-pilot is sobbing like a baby, is one I will remember always. I played a rousing game of cribbage with him last Christmas while we visited. As the game concluded, he announced that he had been "skunked"! The last time I saw him there was a Mariner game on, so as you know, there wasn't much of a visit. My mother wanted to feed him, and Tammy was worried because he had become a bit fussy in his eating habits. He ate a PB+J sandwich and some fruit and thanked my mother profusely for the "delicious lunch".
Your dad was delightful and I and my husband feel fortunate that we were able to know him.
