Marcy and family: I read about the passing of your Dad yesterday in the Valley News. I am so very sorrry. Although I only met him a few times during our high school days, he was certainly an icon of a man and his legacy will live in. My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you. God Bless.

Dear McIntyre Family...
I read about Mac's death in the Valley News and just wanted to say this to you all. There are in our lives a few people who have touched us in a particular way and Mac was one of these for me. His influence in my life came at two specific points... the first was when he and Bruce Hoskins began to organize ski lessons on the hill behind the Inn. He taught us not just how to ski but, in a way, how to have fun.... or perhaps, more importantly, how to believe in the fun we were having. That's a deep lesson I think. His enjoyment was infectious and I'm sure it was that obvious pleasure he took in life that made him such an effective teacher. The other great influence Mac had in my life was his stewardship of Camp Gibson. When little leaflets were passed out at school announcing this new summer camp, I pleaded with my mother to let me go. I attended for a week in that first year and went every summer until the camp closed. It was, for me, a heavenly place, remote and rustic, with none of the upscale trappings of other local summer camps. But it had a clean deep lake and fine woods and took full value from simple things. I loved it, and visions of Mac playing his guitar by a fireside are part of my eternal memorybank.
I have lived away from Westport and my beloved Adirondacks for most of my adult life, but the tidal pull of what we call home is powerful. Mac played a significant role in my childhood - truly - and remains connected in a very real way to where I came from and the person I think I have become.
I send you all my condolences and regards
Robby Barnett

Dear Beverly and family,
I just learned of Don's passing and so sorry. Our thoughts are with you. I worked with Don as a telegraph operator but haven't seen him for years; but remember him well. I also remember that little yellow Jeepster he used to drive around in. Our best wishes.

So sad to hear about Mac. Jean just e-mailed me the news. I have a lot of memories of him. From Camp Gibson to skiing at Whiteface to the sing-alongs in 5th grade class. We will certainly miss him and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I am sorry to hear of Don’s passing. He was a figure during in my entire life! As a young boy he helped me fill the up the boat with gas/oil at his marina. As a young man he gave me my first job as a private consultant and never questioned my limited experience or my youth. Rather, he treated me as a professional and a friend. As an adult he showed me warmth and persistence. Thank you, Don!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Mac was such a wonderful man. I fondly remember his Saturday night sing-a-longs at the Marina and after all these years can still proudly sing every verse of the John B. Sails. Mac will always be in my heart.
