Donald Leslie Mitchell Sr.

In his home surrounded by his loving family, including Robin, his adoring wife of over 63 years, Donald L. Mitchell, Sr. was "promoted" on January 14, 2021. Treasured memories include his irreplaceable smile and his concern that in his experience worship services don't thank God enough. Born to Herman Leslie Mitchell and Ruth Helen Sherratt Mitchell on April 15, 1934 (before the IRS made that day infamous), Don grew up in Torrance and graduated from Torrance High School. While at El Camino Junior College in 1952, Don met Ruth Robin Gensley. They were married at the U.S. Naval Academy on June 8 1957, the day after Don's USNA graduation. Subsequent blessings included the births of their children, MaryClare Mitchell (James), Donald Leslie Mitchell, Jr and Roxanne Annette Mitchell (Trimper). Don's service with the Navy included a command at sea, a tour in Viet Nam and a tour at the Pentagon. He is survived by his wife, Robin; his children, MaryClare, Don Jr. and Roxanne as well as 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
