Don was a great guy to be around and a fine musician - he lived life well.

Don was a one of kind man and artist. His humorous whimsical art keeps his memory alive for so many of us. Love seeing his calendar every year. Thank you so much.

I'm happy that his wonderful and inspirational art is still available once per year. I treasure his notecards, paintings, books,calendars, music I've collected over the years. Last year even found a cassette tape along with not one, but two of his white dog prints reminding of my Bella that is in heaven with him. Don is always a treasure to behold.

On the sofa with my dog and when i look up, Don's "2 Birds With New Red Shoes" print cheers me. You left a beautiful legacy, Don.

Putting away Christmas decorations, I picked up his autographed copy of "The 12 Days of Christmas," we purchased at the St. Joseph, MI, Art Fair in 1985. Our daughter, who loved meeting him as a 2 year old, now has 2 sons, & we will continue to read that delightful tome to the next generation. I´m a retired church musician, & delighted to know he was a player of jazz!

Don remains in my heart everyday because I have so many of his prints all over our home. I so enjoyed seeing him once and sometime twice a year at our now defunct Mossy Creek Craft show here in Middle Georgia. His kindness, talent and friendship lives on!!

I am just now discovering Don´s death and greatly saddened by the realization. I met him in DeLand, FL, in 2000 when I happened into a restaurant where to my delight he was playing jazz with his buddies. He invited me on another occasion to join him on the bandstand with my saxophone. I was so impressed with his mastery of the clarinet that the next year I invited him and his band to play at my waterside wedding reception, which will always remain a precious memory. He was such a delight that my wife and I followed him and his gigs wherever he appeared in our area. Besides his music, his wedding gift to us was two of his prints, "Roman Cat lic and Birds of Pray" (I am a Presbyterian minister) and the cat "Satchmo" with trumpet in hand, both of which still grace my home. When I get to heaven myself some day, I am going to listen out for the sound of Don´s clarinet alongside his old friends, Ted Conner on the guitar and Ron Gilotti on the bass, as they play "Closer Walk with Thee." What a treat that will be yet again!

Don with his fabulous work and band entertained all for many years at the Monument Square Art Fair in Racine. So enjoyed working with him. He was also a favorite at the Fairhope, Alabama art fair each year. Our daughter worked with him on the Celebration tours. Everyone was better for knowing him. It´s wonderful to have his art to bring smiles remembering this most positive man.

He was my mentor when I started out in my art business. I hope to see him again in eternity.

I loved to see Don at the shows we both did...he gave me a CD of his band and i still play it....I'm so sorry he's gone.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr Medobeck sounds like an amazing man who lived an amazing life. I too inherited one of his originals from my deceased father - animals at the bus stop. My father had a hippo collection and this was in his office for years. Mr Nedobeck's legacy will live on in many of our homes for years to come.

I have two original oils and several prints of cats and dogs. All of them are prominently displayed in my home and frequently garner admiring comments. I met Don several times, first in Wisconsin and then again in Florida and look forward to our third meeting on the other side.

The world is a sadder place without our dear Mr. Nedobeck.

I met Mr. Nedobeck at an art festival in 1974, and was delighted by his sense of humor. I fell in love with his artwork the moment I saw it. Such joy and whimsy in it all! I am forever smitten with these happy prints, and the charming artist who created them. My deepest sympathy to Mr.Nedobeck's family and friends; you have lost a vibrant and brilliant man.

I loved his art and his soul. I buy a calendar every year and I have an original of one of his cats who he named Kathy. I just can't express how much joy he brought into my life and lives of others. I draw fun cats now because I was inspired to do so by Don. We all will miss so many wonderful things about the artist, the man, the soul that was Nedobeck. God bless.

I am so sorry to hear about Donnie´s passing. One of my favorite times in life was setting up a Nedobeck art show ( whether at the Lake Front, St Mary´s college, or my college- St Olaf College in Northfield) and talking to people reacting to his whimsical drawings. My gratitude to Liz and the family for sharing him with us.

Don was a treasure and an inspiration. I feel so fortunate to have known him as a fellow exhibitor at many an art fair through the years. He has been one of our best memories of years doing the shows, and continues to inspire my creative muse. Frank and I will miss him. What a beautiful soul he was. His are adorns our walls and is a constant reminder of his visits to Lakeland for the Christmas and spring festival in Munn Park. He will be missed..we send love and warm memories to his family.

He was so sweet in corresponding with me in August,, 2020 regarding my trying to obtain a copy of his cd Over the Rainbow. I am so sad to hear of his passing. What a lovely man.

So sad to come upon this. One of his pictures was available on a local neighborhood buy, sell trade site. Was introduced to him in the mid-90's at the Worthington Ohio Art Festivals by our 4 yr. old grand granddaughter who loved Cats! She ran to his booth every year he was there to have us buy her a picture for her bedroom. He always signed them "To Monica from Marietta." She is now an electrical engineer, remembers him and still has her pictures. Condolences to his family.

I am saddened to learn about Don's passing but so happy that he is with his family and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. My condolences to his lovely family that remains here on this earth. I met Don years ago at an art show in Belleville, Illinois. I have two of his prints, numerous calendars, a mouse pad, and books for grandchildren. I have also purchased several prints for my sister, an avid cat lover. I loved Don from the minute I met him and visited with him several times in Belleville. (My husband is a fellow artist.) He demonstrated a love for all living things and so many people! I am truly happy to have two of his signed prints. He told me once to "think outside of the box, although it is a comfortable place to be" and I believe I have followed his advice. I will miss Don but I am sure he is holding court in heaven and giving joy to so many angels like he did here on earth.

I am so sad to hear of Don's passing. I had met him at an art event in Wausau, Wis., and had spoken to him on the phone a couple of times. He was a really lovely, talented person who will be missed.

I talked to Don Last summer after I had contacted his website to share how much his autographed "Cat Satchmo" print meant to Art, who had it on his desk bookshelf all of his life. What happy memories they all had of musical times together over these many many years. Long lives well lived.

What a sweet man! Met him in Deland, FL last year watching a Packer football game at a sports bar. Sad that he left this world but glad he is in heaven with our Savior Jesus Christ. We will meet again someday!!

I met Nedobeck and Lizzy a number of years ago at the Mossy Creek Arts and Crafts Festival in Middle Georgia. I fell in love with this "hippie looking Santa Clause" and his WONDERFUL art and attitude! I always headed for his spot at the festival FIRST and it was always a thrill to see him and his new creations. My house is filled with Nedobeck prints and a couple of small originals that I could afford. I proudly show them off to all my new friends. Just thinking of he and Lizzy brings happiness to my heart......and now tears to my eyes. Even though I only saw him and spent time with him maybe 10 times, he always remembered me, made me feel special and I consider him my friend. I knew this time would come, but I am still heartbroken. To his family and friends......he was so wonderful, kind, considerate, humble and loving. But, I won't miss him...because I see him everyday in all his art I have in my house. My life was blessed to have known him.

I was so sorry to hear about Don's passing. His art always brought me happiness and I looked forward to seeing him at the Florida fairs. I remain an avid collector.

My husband and I met Don Nedobeck and his wife several times over the years at art shows in Jacksonville, FL. His works were always happy and full of sunshine and love. He will be greatly missed by us. His art lives on.

I met him in Oxford Ohio. Maybe in 70’s or 80!s. I was privileged to speak with him about a year ago. A wonderful artist like none other! I have researched, and I see he indeed was an artist loved by all. A year ago I asked for art of his cats. I’m in cat rescue, and I fell in love with his artistry and this Sweet man. I’m so sad. At our place in Florida, we have one of Don's prints on the wall, which brings us a lot of joy. I met him several times at the Rotary Art Festival in Venice. I have sent his cards to many friends whom I felt needed some happiness in their lives. He has definitely left a legacy. Our condolences go out to Don's family.

I cannot begin to express how much joy I have gotten from my Nedobeck art over the last thirty years. His " I am just me . . ." print is in the homes of all my nieces and nephews and most of the high school graduates I have known. Multiple larger works in my offices have always gotten cheerful responses. He wad a pleasant man in person and his work brought smiles. So sorry to hear of his passing.

I never met Mr. Nedobeck except through his wonderful art. I first discovered his calendars in a bookstore in WI, but I don't remember where or when. I do know it was before you two moved to Florida. Every year thereafter I bought calendars for cat-loving friends and family, and, of course, myself. My very latest order arrived yesterday, but I had already heard he had passed away. I am so sorry! I will miss him always, but there is a part of his loving whimsy that will live forever in my kitchen, even as 2021 comes and goes. Peace and blessings to you and his children.

I was lucky to know Don for more years than I want to admit too on the art circuit. We did 100's of shows together, when a show was near my home, he would stay with us. He was one of true person with a heart of solid gold. His works will be missed by many throughout the land. Farewell my friend.

We are so sorry to hear of his passing the world will be less magical without him. We met him every year at the Mossy Creek festival in Georgia until they didn't have the festival any more. Then we continued to get his calendars, books, prints and cards every year. We loved to hear him play and listen to his music often. The room our grandchildren stay in is decorated with his prints, it gives me pleasure every time I walk in. Our condolences to his family what an empty spot there must be in your lives. His memory and work will live on with all of his fans.

To the Nedobeck family.

It is with great sorrow that we learn of Don’s passing and we extend heartfelt sympathy to Mr. Nedobeck's family and friends. We lost a great artist, a talented musician, an animal lover and a fun guy to visit with. Don’s work adorns walls at several of the veterinary hospitals I work at. We traded cat stories when we would meet and I always looked forward to his portrayal of what new things he would “train” our animal friends to accomplish, be it playing a tuba or scuba diving for goldfish.

Occasionally he showed up at the clinic with a new print to add to our wall. His wry sense of humor was always heart-warming; He really would throw the staff for a loop when this scruffy artisan would ask for a dollar to catch the bus back home!
He had that signature Cheshire grin on his face when he realized the staff did not recognize him the artist himself!

Thank you for your service, for your Jazzy Dixieland melodies, for supporting various animal shelters and for brightening up the hearts of us who love all God’s beloved creatures, especially our feline friends.

Right now we presume that God is likely getting a real kick out of how Don is “caricaturizing” the various Angels in heaven and depicting them as cats flying around on angel’s wings! May his memory be eternal.

It was such a delight meeting Don and His wife Elizabeth at an art festival in DeLand with my mom and daughter. He was a great artist and a wonderful spirit. We really appreciate his passion for art. My mom has some pieces around her house. His memory will live on every time we see it and read his number and alphabet book! It was neat to see some of his artwork at our pediatric office. I feel honored to have met him in person!!

A great artist is now in heaven! I met Don at the Boston Mills art festival over 20 years ago and have always loved his work. A true talent will be missed.

I feel as if I'm an acquaintance of Mr. Nedobeck. Every day for the past 5+ years, I have walked to my office door, past a print of "2 birds with new Red shows." It has lightened my heart every time. At my retirement party today, I was presented with a signed print, apparently the last print he sent. My life has been enriched by this silly, fun print. Please know that it will go on to enrich my life, and I will be forever touched by his last gesture of kindness to ensure that I received it. Our family sends our most heartfelt sympathy to Mr. Nedobeck's family and friends. To us he is eternal. My husband and I saw and purchased our first piece in 72 right after we were married. When we encountered that special booth again, we had grown to four. Each time the season came around, the booth would be up and our sons would excitedly rush to find Mr. Nedobeck...he knew us all by name then and we'd visit as I am certain he did with so many other people. The guys just love him. Thank you for sharing him with us....Wherever we look in our house, he is a happy memory.

We never met Mr. Nedobeck, but we came to appreciate his delightful presence in our home through several pieces of his artwork and his yearly calendars. Thank you for all of the chuckles! Hopefully, one day, we’ll meet you on the other side.

I had the privilege of meeting Don and his lovely wife Liz, 20 some years ago at Christmas family fish fry.
Continued to see him at the South Shore art show and the same Christmas party for years. Gave his beautiful numbers and letter books to my grand nieces and nephews with Don's wonderful personalization's. A very special soul, with a great taste in vests.

What a guy. Fantastic musician, fun artist, legend are all things one could say about this man but my best comment is that he helped to create my longtime buddy Patrick and stuck around long enough to see just about everything. Wow you can't ask for more than that.

I had the pleasure of meeting Don at the Elm Grove Women’s Club Annual Art Show in 2002. I purchased this watercolor as an anniversary gift for my husband and Don wrote a note to my husband and drew a quick “self portrait.” It has moved several times with us since 2002 and still has a prominent place in our living room here in Florida. Everyone loves it and it makes me smile. My daughter has claimed it as hers in the future. Deepest condolences to Don’s family and all touched by him. Just meeting him once made an impression, a truly special gift. May your joy lift you up during these times. R.I.P. Don.

Don and Liz Nedobeck have been friends of ours for over 60 years. It is hard to imagine either one without the other. When we were students at Marquette, Chuck met Don when they played in the “Neil Martin Band”, entertaining at many Fraternity and Sorority parties. The band members, all Marquette students, were in awe of Don’s musical ability, and were delighted by his warm, cheerful personality.
About 15 years later, we renewed our friendship when Don began appearing at the Art Festival in Wausau. His booth was always a “must see” attraction, and people loved owning a piece of his art work, often with a small cartoon and personal note on the back. Don would also join the “Sid Kyler Band” for a few Dixieland songs at the Festival.
After his day at the Art Festival, he became a favorite visitor at St. James Catholic Church when he would walk in with his clarinet to join the “Saturday Night Singers” – an informal choir that sang at 5:30 PM Mass on Saturdays. It was always a treat for the choir and the congregation to hear his amazing clarinet music bring new life to our choir music.
It’s nice to think there might be a place for “Three Toed Tree Toads” and whimsical cats and birds in heaven. Among our favorites of Don’s works (“Frog for President”, “Owl Be Seeing You”) is his self portrait, titled:

I never got to meet Mr. Nedobeck in person, nor do I have any of his art work. I wish I had. In the early 80s, when he showed his art at 60th and forest home Ave, I would stop in and look at the art. It was so whimsical and enchanting. I was young and didn't know much about art but some of the pictures have stayed in mind. Now almost 40 years later I have always remembered those enchanting moments. My condolences to your family for a loss of someone so special and who touched so many lives.

We looked forward to seeing him at Art on the Square in Bellville...loved his cats and he was so humble and friendly with everyone ❤

What a wonderful spirit and joyful soul. Anyone with the luck to have met him as well as Liz, could not possibly forget the experience. I was blessed to have been one of those people, if even for a brief time.

I only met Don a few times at local art festivals and fairs, but was very familiar with his wonderful art. I don't doubt that Jesus prepared a most wonderful mansion in His Father's house for His faithful servant, Don Nedobeck. Don brought such whimsical joy to so many on this earth. Met him 10+ years ago when my sister was his gardener. Loved his humor, smarts and talent. He will be sadly missed.

I had the immense pleasure of meeting Mr. Nedobeck when he hosted a program at the library where I worked. What a genuine, warm, heartfelt person he was! His greatest legacy to me is the North Water Street Tavern Band's bluesy rendition of "Milorganite Blues". Only Don Nedobeck could create a musical masterpiece about Jones Island, a sewage treatment plant, and a famous fertilizer. Three generations of my family helped craft Milwaukee Organic Nitrogen, aka Milorganite. Thanks for giving us our theme song. I know my Dad is shaking your hand right now and saying Thank You as well. Bless.

My sympathy to you all...what a great artist! His artwork and signed books have made it into the hands of many of my family and friends.

I had the privilege of meeting Don at a craft show 3 years ago and his joy was absolutely contagious, so much so that I asked for a photo with him. He has left a lasting legacy in each life he touched. You all are in my thoughts and prayers as you honor his life and his memory.

I met Don at Pulaski High School where we both were in the band. Both an excellent artist and musician, he was good to know. I wish the best to his family in their grief but when you love someone he is never lost to you. All the good memories will sustain you. Blessings.

I have many of his pictures on T-shirts, books for my granddaughters, notecards, and I have saved most of his calendars, some untouched and some taken apart to frame some of the pictures. What a lovely, talented man.

What a joy he brought to my life through his art and wonderful whimsy. 33 3 toed tree toads is my all time favorite. I had the pleasure of meeting him during hay days in Greendale many years ago.

I first met Don many years ago at the St James Art Fair in Louisville KY. I have so many of Don’s many lovely art pieces in my home, he brought and continues to bring joy to us via his art. His bright light and innovate spirit will be missed in this world. Condolences to those who loved him.

Don was a wonderful artist and musician but more a wonderful positive person. Love his art especially all the cat prints of which we own every one. He was such a positive great friendly soul. There is a special place in heaven where his talents will carry on. RIP and condolences to his friends and family. He will be missed and a hole is left in DeLand.

I first met Don when we were both in high school and just learning our respective musical instruments. Years later we were able to reconnect when he called me to join his North Water Street Tavern Band. We went on to play 3 nights a week for over 4 years at Someplace Else night club. Those were great happy years. Don was an amazingly talented man..in music and most famously as an artist. I have several of his originals in my home, including my favorite, Zoo's Blues in Bflat...which pictured most of the guys in our band. Such a lovely man, an incredible artist and just one of a kind. I thought about him last week because it's time to get the new calendar. The world will miss him and my heart is breaking for Liz. ❤

I first met Don in the mid-70s at an art festival in Wausau, WI. He asked me to photograph a painting he had just sold for his records. When I agreed, he gave me a print, a bunch of cards, and his address so I could mail him the slides. When he received them, he sent me even more cards and another print.
Years later my wife and I met him at an art festival in Lake Mary, FL. We talked and I told him about meeting him in Wausau. Suddenly, he said he needed to go to his van to get more artwork. He asked me to watch his booth for him and handed me a wad of cash so I could sell his art and make change. He dashed off before it sank in that he had just trusted me with all his art and several hundred dollars in cash. When he returned, I gave him back his change and the receipt book with several new purchases in it. Last year we met again in Deland. He spoke at great length about his career and how he began to sell his art almost by accident. As he talked, he signed the things we were buying and drew extra cats along with his signatures. His art is all over our house and is a constant reminder of a whimsical, gentle man. His work has added joy to our lives and we are very saddened by his passing.

There will never be another Don Nedobeck. The world needs more Nedobecks. He was captivating and fascinating all in one package. Not to mention he showed the fine Godly qualities that in aspire in my own life. - Love , joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness & faith. Don was a pleasure to be around. He influenced and brought out the good in others that knew him. I will miss Don Nedobeck.

I am so sorry for your loss. He was a sweet soul. I looked so forward to the art festival in Oconomowoc every summer so I could see all of his quirky wonderful creations. Many adorn my veterinary office wall and they always make me smile. He always had time to talk and I was treated many times with his personal signature and cartoon on the pictures I bought. He was a light and a treasure and I will miss him.

We are so sad to hear of Don's passing. We have a special friendship with Don and family. We bought his house in Hales Corners as he said it was too large and he wanted to move to Florida. This was after Don and I went together in one vehicle to Minneapolis for an art show in a mall together and he kept telling me about his house that I should buy! Another connection was that Don bought my Chevy Van for $200 because it would not go more than 45 mph going from Minneapolis to Milwaukee. He bought it and changed the fuel filter and drove it for 200,000 more miles. There are a lot more connections with the rest of his family. We enjoy his daughter Mary Beth's fish restaurant in Milw and enjoy Patrick and all his great ideas and his helpfulness to his entire family as his life mission. Don and I have done a lot of art fairs together throughout the years and he said for me to park my RV in his Florida home if I ever wanted to do an art show near his home there. Such a wonderful and gracious and humble man and his music is famous in Milwaukee too! We will miss seeing you and your family at the art shows.

I met Donald at an art fair where he was selling his wonderful books. He was so kind and signed each book with a funny personalized drawing. We had a great conversation. I have never forgotten him and I still have the book for my grandchildren to enjoy. He had a special gift of joy that is so rare.

What a wonderful man! Everywhere Don travelef he brought joy. He was generous to a fault ....always supplementing his art sale with his philosophy and wit. This never retired retiree was active in his winter community of Volusia county. In the late 1990's he took time to be a part of the Lanvuage Arts FAIR at Galaxy Middle School. The students loved both he and his art. My husband and I felt a special kinship to him through his Eastern European Jewish roots. In his artistic rendering s of his menagerie we saw the faces of ancestors, our Bubbies (grandmom) and Zaydes (grans). We visited his house in early 2020 and were worried that this might be our last visit. We ate so sorry for his loss. Barry and Laura Kerben LaBoda

I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I LOVED his artwork and have 50+ pieces all throughout my home. I was fortunate enough to meet him several times; he was such a kind man and really did exude joy.

Having Don participate in the Mount Mary Starving Artists' Show for many years was wonderful. Several of his works hang in my home and bring a smile every time one sees them. We also had the opportunity to be at gatherings where we were entertained with his music...a real treat!

Don was a wonderful and joyous soul. May perpetual Light shine upon him! May God shower his beloved Liz and his surviving family with abundant consolations. Surely, the Heavenly Choirs will appreciate his accompaniment! Ave Mari, Gratia plena... Thanks be to God for the gift of knowing him.

The world has lost someone that made it a better place. He brought smiles. I have sent his greeting cards to kids and adults alike.
I am a volunteer at Belleville Art on the Square and always stopped by several times at each fair.

You have my most sincere condolences on Dons passing. He was a great friend to my folks Bob and Gini Melang of Wausau, WI/Sun City, AZ. For years his booth was a constant stop for us at the Wausau Festival of the Arts. I have an extensive collection of Nedobeck originals, prints, calendars, and books. They are all a source of enjoyment to me.
Know that Don is playing his jazzy clarinet with a band of angels. Your family is in my prayers.

As a novice artist who admired his work, I commented how I loved his use of color. He said,” they just come out of the tube”. He always rewarded me with a warm smile when ever we would unexpectedly be at the same art show. I will play his jazz cd today and reminisce of his beautiful soul that he shared with this world. Thank you Don.

I met Don at an art show in St. Augustine. Wonderful, kind, talented and generous soul. Great storyteller. He will be missed.

One of the happiest people I ever had the pleasure of meeting! Although I only knew him through his art and music, I was so thrilled when my job moved me (with stops along the way) from West Allis to Florida, and there was Don. Always a ray of sunshine.
