On Sept. 6, 2015, Donald Edward Osborn, 82, longtime resident of Weldona passed away in Windsor at the Windsor Heath Care Center. He was born in Denver on Dec. 13, 1932. As a young man of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving 17 years. He served in the Korea Conflict and 6 years in Germany. Don was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 41 and also the VFW. He served as commander and officers in the DAV chapter and as Colorado State Commander in 2009. He aided many verterans with access to benefits. In November of 1982, Don married his wife, Dorothy. They have lived in Weldon Valley for 20 years. He enjoyed time with both his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a fan of the sports programs at Weldon Valley Schools. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; sister, Shirley Watts; brother Mere (Jan); sons, Ernest (Trisa) Osborn, Darrell (Joanie) Groves, Rod (Gail) Grover and Rick (Teresa) Groves; daughters Lisa Forsythe, Laurie Way, Robin Adams, Kim Deganhart and Laurie Pate; 29 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Hawley; brothers Raymod Harris and Wes Harris, granddaughter Kayle Chadwick and gradnson Scott Forsythe. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2015, in Fort Morgan at the American Legion. Memorial gifts may be made to the DAV Chapter 41, in care of Dorothy Osborn, MCR 7, Weldona, CO 80653.
