CWO2 Donald Kistler Seigler, U.S. Coast Guard, Retired, widower of Lillian Roberta Seigler of Lobeco, SC, passed peacefully Thursday, January 30, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.



"Pa-Pa", "Pappy", "Mr. Don" as he was affectionately known, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and on all who knew him.



Born on June 3, 1934, in Charleston, South Carolina, Don was the son of the late David Kistler and Zelma Geiger Seigler.. As a young man, Don was an outstanding football player for Walterboro High School Wildcats from 1949-53. He made the varsity team as an 8th grader and was selected to play in the North-South All Star game and on the All State All Star team his senior year. He was also the captain of his team during his junior and senior years. Don was inducted into the Colleton County High School Hall of Fame on September 15, 2006.



After being offered a full football scholarship to Clemson University, Don opted instead for a career in the United States Coast Guard. There, he served honorably for 22 years in the Aviation branch, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer-2. Upon leaving military service, he parlayed his aviation experience into a secondary career with Gulfstream Aerospace, as a Field Engineer in Savannah, Georgia, the United Kingdom, Europe, The Middle East and North Africa from 1976 to 1996.



Don loved and served his community through generously giving of his time and resources. He was a member of Sheldon Baptist Church until 2013, where he served as a Deacon, Men's Ministry Director, Building and Grounds Director, and Sunday school teacher. He attended Redeemer Church of Michiana from 2013 to 2024. Don was a volunteer fireman at Sheldon Fire Department and also served the Sheldon Fire District Board from 1997 to 2013.



Don was predeceased by his wife, Lillian Roberta Seigler, his parents, David Kistler Seigler, and Zelma Geiger Seigler. He is survived by his children, Donald Kistler Seigler, Jr. (Tammy) of McDonough, Ga, Roberta Seigler Liebenhaut (Freddie) of Ormond Beach, Fl, and Roslyn Seigler Sullivan (Tommy) of Beaufort, SC, 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.



The family will receive friends and family on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 5-7 pm at Anderson Funeral Home, 611 Robert Smalls Pkwy, Beaufort, South Carolina 29906. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am in the Carl Anderson Memorial Chapel (address same as above) with internment in Beaufort National Cemetary with Military Honors.



In Lieu of flowers family requests memorial donations be sent to Samaritan's Purse, Wounded Warrior Project or favorite charity.
