Donald Lee Shelton Donald Lee Shelton, 83, of Daleville, Botetourt County, Virginia, passed away in Daleville, on Friday, May 3, 2013. Don was born on May 24, 1929, in Goody, Pike County, Kentucky, the son of the late Robert and Ida Beatrice Craig Shelton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Virginia Stepp Shelton; and an older brother, Russell Shelton. Don graduated from Belfry High School; attended National Business College in Roanoke, Virginia; served in the United States Navy during the Korean War; graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1957. He was a CPA and had a long distinguished career with the Union Carbide Corporation, retiring as Controller of International Accounting. Don married Helen Virginia Stepp in 1955, and they began their married life in Lexington, Kentucky. Over their 53 years together, they lived in Charleston, West Virginia, Louisville, Kentucky, Stamford, Connecticut, Danbury, Connecticut, Charlottesville, Virginia, and Richmond, Virginia. Don moved to the Glebe in Daleville, Virginia, in 2010. He was an active member in a number of societies including the Sons of the American Revolution and the Masons. Don is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Paul) Shelton Clements of Fairfax Station, Virginia, and Julie (Sherman) Shelton Snyder of Franklin, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Kristen and Daniel Clements of Fairfax Station, Virginia; and two brothers, Dr. Charles Shelton of Huntington, West Virginia, and Robert (Linda) Shelton of Williamson, West Virginia. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Kentucky. The Reverend George Kostas will officiate.
