Planes, trains and automobiles is a good description of Don and his lifelong hobbies and interests. Born to Agatha Watkins Terry and Major Raggio Terry on June 6, 1947 and peacefully passing on to his next adventure on April 29, 2022, after having fought a brave battle against lung cancer. He was surrounded by his devoted wife, Julie, and loving brothers Michael Terry, Michael Standley and Ian Brown.
He grew up surrounded by his loving Parents and younger brother Michael, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousin in beautiful Santa Paula, California. This is where his love for trains began with his Grandfather taking him to the Santa Paula train depot. He and his buddies spent many an adventurous afternoon playing at the Santa Paula Airport. His love of cars began with him assembling model cars until getting his driver's license and buying his first car, a 1956 Chevy Bel Air Coupe. He owned numerous cars throughout his lifetime, with his pride and joy being the 1932 Ford Roadster, 1940 Ford Fordor Deluxe and the 1971 Corvette Stingray convertable parked in the Man Cave. He would say to anyone that had a convertable that they knew the "ABC's of buying cars-Always Buy Convertables, because when the top goes down, the price goes up!"
He met several lifelong friends at his Grandmother's nursery school, going on to graduate from Santa Paula High School in 1965. He then attended the next two years at Ventura College, transferring to Cal State Fullerton in the Fall of 1967. This was the beginning of Don spending the rest of his life in Fullerton, California. While attending CSUF, he made many lifelong friends/brothers, having joined the Delta Chi Fraternity and having close associations with brothers in the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity.
I know this to be true about Donald Austin Terry, he was a good, kind, thoughtful and fun boy that grew into a loving, caring and intelligent man.
He is survived and will forever be missed greatly by his dedicated and loving wife, Julie Marble, his younger brother Michael Terry and his significant other, Archina Scott, brother-in-law Tom Simmons and sister-in-law Carol Sadowsky, stepchild and spouse Keili and Cori Marble Steele, stepdaughter and husband Sierra and Travis Marble Wilson, fraternity brothers Michael Standley, Ian Brown, Brian Yeandle, Doug Landgren, John Dolon, Bill Whiteside and Lucious Brown and childhood "brothers" Scott Farmer, Ted Staley, Larry Price, Danny Dodson, Steve Barry, Chuck Stewart and Paul Yamamoto.
There will be a celebration to honor Don's next great journey on Sunday, June 5th, at the Hill Top Banquet Center, Fullerton Elks Lodge No. 1993, located at 1400 Elks View Lane, Fullerton, CA 92835, beginning at noon. Please wear your favorite Hawaiian or Hot Rod shirt as Don would want everyone to be comfortable. There will be a Santa Paula celebration, with the date, time and place TBD.
We will forever adore and remember you and will stand taller and stronger having known you as husband, brother and friend.

I met Don when he was co-teaching a class at CSUF and drove a shiny white Corvette. Although he was quite a bit older than me, we became good friends. Malvern was the clubhouse, always a good time with a fun, interesting assortment of people popping by. Most didn’t understand how Don and I remained friends because we never agreed on anything. It was like I was his kid sister and he was the older brother. We never got angry, never hurt one another’s feelings, but neither of us would ever concede a point. So, this is my chance to finally have the advantage on him! When his lovely mother Agatha came down from SP, she understood right away that Don and I enjoyed intellectually sparring. I liked her. She was cool. Her son and his friends were always gentlemen, treating me with kindness and respect. Don was a good guy and associated with good people. He had a kind heart, too. I remember he once helped a friend by letting him live in his home so he could get back on his feet. In the obit, I recognize the name Mike Standley. I think it was Mike who worked as a rep for Altech. When he landed a big position at Maxell, Don was thrilled for him. I was happy about it, too, because Mike gifted Don and I with a bunch of cassette tapes. As a struggling college kid, that was a big deal to me. Don was also cordial to my college friends. When I got married, he and I remained in touch, but eventually lost touch when I moved away, so I never knew he married. I know his wife is a smart, sweet, beautiful lady. Julie, my heart breaks for your loss. I’m grateful that he found you and that you loved his good heart, his sense of humor and clever personality. I'm proud to have been a member of Don's posse. When any of his friends cross over, we know there’ll be a party in the Big Clubhouse and he'll be at the center of it! See you on the other side, Dondi!

For 27 years, Don and Julie were my cool neighbors with the coolest cars. My dream car was always a yellow Corvette and it made my day-so many times-to see that sweet ride-and the others-rumble down our beautiful block in Fullerton. Godspeed, Neighbor Don.

Don and I would run in to each other at Phi Sig functions. He seemed to have a close relationship with several of my fraternity brothers at CSFU. I kept thinking who is this Delta Chi and why was he at our parties. After many years of seeing him I realized that he was a good guy and should have been a Phi Sig. We were never very close but I think we were going our separate ways and just did not become better friends. My mistake. I should have made more of an effort. RIP Don. You will be missed.
