DONALD D. YARNELL, 84, beloved husband, father, and "Papa", passed away on Sunday, Decmber 10, 2006, at Kaiser Hospital/Font ana, CA, due to heart and kidney failure, emphysema, as well as having Alzheimer's Disease. He was born May 2, 1922, to Daniel D. and Jessie Yarnell. Don was born in the family home in Highland and remained a lifelong resident of Highland. Until the time of his death, he lived within one mile of his birthplace. He was a 1940 graduate of San Bernardino High School. The summer after his high school graduation he was hired on to work in one of the local Highland packing houses. He was employed there until bein g called to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army during W.W. II where he served in the South Pacific. After his service time, he returned to the Santa Fe Railroad and retired from there after 41 years of faithful service. Don enjoyed his yard work, camping, and "baseball". He belonged to the Railroad Retirees of the Santa Fe Railroad. He is survived by wife, Karolyn Yarnell of Highland; daughters, Evelyn Yarnell-Valles (John) of Rancho Bernardo, Karen E. Hardin (Jim) of Hi ghland, Kathy Roberts (Ron) of San Luis Obispo, and son, Mike Hoffman of San Bernardino. He was the loving grandfather to Steve Hardin (Letty) of Highland, CA; Julie Arellano (Desi) of Simi Valley, CA; Brian Roberts (Rosie) of Palo Alto, CA; and Melissa Wheeler (Jon) of Avondale, AZ. He was great-grandfather to Karen A. Hardin, Christopher Hardin, Aidan Roberts, Patrick Arellano and Grant Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helyn, in 1985, and his son, Daniel in 1966. Visitation will be he ld on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, from 1:00 - 5:00 P.M. at Montecito Memorial Park. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at NorthPoint Christian Fellowship, 3701 North Sierra Way, San Bernardino, CA. Burial to be at Montecito Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or your favorite charity.
