Will never forget Her unmatched inspiration and passion for teaching. 46 years later I am ognizant of her voice and articulation instructions. Such a legacy.

Had a very memorable oral interpretation class with her in 1988. At times, she'd be late to class having just come from coaching Michael Dukakis for his debates with HW Bush. There were also rumors, not confirmed or denied by her, but subtly winkingly encouraged, that she'd coached Kennedy for his debates with Nixon. Which worked out better for Mr. Kennedy than it did for the aformentioned Mr. Dukakis!

It was truly an honor to learn from Fran. It was like learning oral interpretation from Yoda. So much brilliance and wisdom in a very small frame. Rest in Peace, Professor.

Fran was a great influence in my education at Emerson College. Her contribution to my academic journey allowed me to earn a masters degree at another university and start in a PhD program at a third. Just recently I was reading a book on the 1988 Presidential election campaign and Fran was mentioned as a speech coach for Michael Dukakis. Kindest regards to her loved ones.

Also one of MY FAVORITE PROFESSORS At Emerson College and quite influential in my formative & impressionable
"World View" during turbulent times.

One of her favorites,
Cicero, once said:
"Life for the Dead consists in being present in the minds of the Living!"

Mrs. LaShoto was an inspiration to me when I first began to read at Mass. I attended one of her workshops and later knew her from Emerson College. I cherish my memories of her and am so grateful to have had the opportunity to have been one of her many students. She was a true gift.

Mrs. LaShoto taught me everything I knew about public speaking and gave me the confidence to stand before almost any size crowd and speak with clarity and focus. I'll be forever grateful to her.
