Donna Frazer-Palmer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 6, 2025.
Donna Marie Frazer-Palmer (née Zahn), 78, passed away on March 30, 2025, in Northglenn, Colorado.

Born on September 23, 1946, in Floral Park, New York, Donna grew up with a passion for learning and literature that would shape her life's work. She graduated from Hicksville High School in Hicksville, NY, and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from C.W. Post College in 1966. Her commitment to education continued with a teaching degree from Long Island University in 1984.

Donna began her teaching career as a student teacher at Oyster Bay High School and Seaford High School in New York between 1968 and 1974. In 1974, she moved to Colorado and joined the Jefferson County School District in 1979, where she would dedicate the next four decades of her life to inspiring students through English and journalism.

Her teaching journey within Jefferson County, Colorado included roles at Golden High School (1979-1981), Evergreen High School (1981-1989), Chatfield High School (1989-1997), and Lakewood High School (1997-2013). At Lakewood, she taught International Baccalaureate English, guiding students through rigorous academic challenges with insight and encouragement.

In addition to her distinguished teaching career, Donna was the owner and tour guide of Cross Continental Travel from 1999 to 2013. Her love for exploration took her across the globe, but she held a special place in her heart for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico-a destination she cherished deeply and owned a second home and built lasting memories.

Donna shared a devoted marriage with her husband Thomas D. Palmer from 1989 until his passing in 2023. Their years together were marked by mutual support and shared adventures.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Frazer Birnbaum (Bret) of Flushing, NY; her son, Mathew Frazer (Amy) of Arvada, CO; her stepdaughter, Andi Palmer (Sean) of Parker, CO; her stepson, T.D. Palmer (Sheila) of Estes Park, CO; and her stepdaughter Renee' Palmer Trimble (Phil) of Littleton, CO, and by her sister, Denise MacDevette (William) of Oradell, NJ, and three nephews. She was a proud grandmother of ten and great-grandmother of seven.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire all who value education, curiosity, and the joy of discovery.
