Donna was the "BIG" sister of my best friend. She was kind, gentle and quiet. She was always present and watching us, but never intrusive or judgmental. Donna had a calming and loving presence which made us feel safe.
Thank you Donna!

Shy, diffident, and reticent describe Donna. But there was so much more to this remarkable woman. Her shyness concealed a quick wit, a sharp intellect, and a passion for social justice. Donna loved fine art, theatre, good literature, and was a wonderful writer whose email descriptions of her travels left us begging for more.
Donna´s shyness also masked a wonderful sense of adventure. She enthusiastically winter camped with us in Wisconsin, introduced us to our beloved and aggravating Afghan Hound dogs, took us off-roading in the Indiana Dunes, and joined us backpacking in the Rocky Mountains. An enduring image of Donna that I will always hold dear is of her standing on a rocky point looking out at the Sonoran Desert outside of Tucson, Az. The photograph captured her shy smile - a smile of contentment, of wonder, and of adventure. Shy? Yes, but also a remarkably self-sufficient and independent woman.
