Donna Faye Michael

Donna Faye Penley (Michael), age 87, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on March 15, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas. Born on August 30, 1937, in Wichita, she remained deeply rooted in Kansas throughout her life.

Donna dedicated three decades of service as an officer of the court for the State of Kansas. Her long-standing commitment to justice and public service reflected a strong sense of duty and professionalism that earned her the respect of colleagues and community members alike.

Beyond her professional life, Donna was a woman of many passions. A true cowgirl at heart, she found joy and expression through poetry that celebrated the Western spirit. She loved showing her horses and spent countless hours caring for animals in need at Wheel of Fortune Ranch, in which she took great pride. Her compassion extended beyond people to all living creatures, and her work with animal rehabilitation left a lasting impact on those who witnessed her dedication.

Donna's legacy continues through her children: sons Greg McMahon and his wife Andrea, Michael Rains; and daughter Shannon Howland and her husband Jupe. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and cherished great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren. She claimed Keith Henderson as an adopted son. Her family was a source of deep pride and joy throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Preston Michael and Mamie Mitchell (Smith) Michael; her sister Ruth Thompson and brother-in-law Fred; her brother David Michael and sister-in-law Barbara; and her beloved granddaughter Erica McMahon.

A funeral service honoring Donna's life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, 11:00 AM at Clearwater United Methodist Church, located at 130 N 1st St, Clearwater, Kansas 67026. There will not be a graveside service.

Donna will be remembered for her strength, creativity, and love for both family and animals. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
