Donna Vaughan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 23, 2024.
In loving memory of Donna Marie Vaughan, a beacon of kindness, humor, and resilience, who touched the lives of so many with her unwavering spirit and generosity. Donna put other people first without judgment.

Donna was a loving foster mother, sister, and aunt. She was pre-deceased by her parents Patrick and Marianne Vaughan. She is survived by her son Jorge and many children that she fostered through the years, as well as her brothers Patrick (Liz), Kevin (Lois), Bryan (Susie), and sister-in-law Patti (Meno) Vaughan. Her surviving nieces and nephews include Erin (Pat), PJ (Karen), Annie McGinnis (Matt), Justin (Eileen), AJ, Addy, and Spencer and many great nephews and nieces.

Donna's journey through life was marked by her unwavering love for people. She was a steadfast defender of her family and friends, always standing up for what was right and lending a supportive hand to those in need.

She was a person you could depend on and provided for many over the years. Her compassionate heart and fierce loyalty created a sense of belonging and security for all who were fortunate enough to be in her presence.

Donna faced her recent years of health challenges with extraordinary strength and hope, demonstrating a resilience that inspired all who knew her. Despite the trials she endured, her positive outlook, never ending hope of a better day to come and determination never wavered, serving as a testament to her indomitable spirit.

Educated at Illinois State University and later earning a master's degree in clinical social work & psychology from Governors State University. Donna possessed a profound understanding of the human mind and a passion for helping others. Her academic achievements were matched only by her genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of those around her.

Donna had a wide variety of jobs throughout her life including taking bets at Chicagoland racetracks as a Para-mutual Clerk to help pay her way through college. However, her primary career was as the Director of Human Resources for Adult Probation in Chicago Cook County until her retirement.

She had a passion and talent for singing. She grew up singing in church and was kept very busy during her younger adult years singing for family and friend's events as a paid vocalist.

Perhaps Donna's most enduring legacy was her openness, genuine nature, and her infectious sense of humor. With a quick wit and a playful spirit, she had a knack for finding laughter in even the darkest of times.

Donna passed away peacefully, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love that will forever be missed by those who loved her.

Though Donna may no longer walk among us, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her kindness, strength, and laughter.

A memorial luncheon to celebrate her life will be held in the in the coming months.

We are cousins and she at one time sang with my Dad (Ben Lacy) and her Aunt Fern Lacy. Fern was my mom and sister to "Aunt Leila". I heard Donna sing several times and she was extremely talented. Kept in e-mail contact for several years.
