Donna Westbrook

Donna Marie Gowin Westbrook, 61, wife of Robert E. "Yogi" Westbrook of Towanda RR 4, Asylum Township, Pa., passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 8, 2009, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.

Donna was born in Towanda, on Sept. 5, 1947, the daughter of the late Leonard A. Gowin Jr. and Ada Margaret Matte Gowin. Donna was a graduate of Towanda Area High School Class of 1966.

On May 9, 1970, she married Robert E. Westbrook in Moss Bluff, La.

Donna was employed by Pipher's Diner in Wysox, Pa., and the Towanda Motel in Towanda for a number of years until declining health no longer permitted her to continue. Donna enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; cooking; baking; berry picking; and traveling.

She is survived by: her husband, Robert E. "Yogi" Westbrook, at home; her children, Ann Marie Westbrook of Saco, Pa., Mary Kae Westbrook of Towanda RR 4 and Duncan Michael Westbrook of Saco; grandchildren, Dylan and Ashley Strohl; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary G. and Craig Lee of Bridge City, Texas, and Lois A. and Kenneth Beaugh of Lake Charles, La.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley L. and Sandra Gowin of Willsboro, N.Y., J. Hopson and Agnes Gowin of LeRaysville, Pa., Michael and Christine Gowin of Athens, Pa., and Anthony A. and Carol Gowin of Towanda; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ada Margaret Matte Gowin, on Dec. 20, 2001, and by her father, Leonard A. Gowin Jr., on Nov. 20, 2002.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Third Street, Towanda.

Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be directed to Guthrie Dialysis Program, Towanda Dialysis Unit, Guthrie Square, Sayre, Pa. 18840 in Donna Marie Westbrook's memory.
