Dora Clara Anaya of Perryton, Texas, formerly of Tucumcari, NM, passed away at Ochiltree General Hospital on Sunday, September 4, 2022. A mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM at a later date. Burial will be at Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton, Texas. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Dora was born August 12, 1938 to George and Maria Lucero in Las Vegas, NM. As everyone knows she was a devoted Catholic and the most important people in her life were her kids and family. As a young girl, she grew up in Los Alamitos, NM before meeting Lilo. The two of them made their home in Las Vegas, NM, where she was a homemaker and mother. Years later, they moved to Tucumcari, NM to live the farm life. Dora moved to Texas in 2011, where she was excited to live the carefree life (as she would call it). She grew close to the Texas family, while still missing and loving the family she left behind in NM.
She is survived by six daughters, Agnes Morales and husband Larry of Anton Chico, NM, Dolly Padilla and husband David of Tucumcari, NM, Erline Hankammer and husband Brian, Anna Belle Guzman and husband Alfred, Mary Margaret Anaya and husband Antonio, all of Perryton, TX, Sandra Molinas and Louie of Tucumcari, NM; two sons, Andrew Anaya and wife Judy of Albuquerque, NM and Johnny Anaya and wife Tracy of Tucumcari, NM; bonus daughter, Clara Romero of Las Vegas, NM; son-in-law for life Orlando Vigil of Perryton, TX; brother, Chupe Lucero of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Porfie Salas of Las Vegas, NM; her forever childhood friend Velma Montano of Las Vegas, NM; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Joe “Lilo” Anaya; her brothers, Manuel Lucero, Ramon Lucero, Lupe Lucero and Barney Lucero.
The family requests that memorials be made to Our Lady of Sorrows, 403 Valencia St., Las Vegas, NM, 87701 or the church of your choice.
