Doreen Meyer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 17, 2024.
Doreen Edith "Doe" Meyer, 76, of Worcester, MA, passed away on May 12, 2024, in Wells, Maine. She will be remembered for her dry wit, ready laugh, and generosity. Doreen graduated from Leicester High School and pursued a career in the corporate world. She started at New England Power Company as a key punch operator and worked her way up to become a supervisor and Senior Systems Analyst before retiring in 2003.

Outside of work, Doreen found joy in flowers, gardening, and traveling with her companion, Sheryl. She was the beloved daughter of Effie L. (Bartlett) Meyer, Robert Paul Meyer, and stepfather George C. Smith. Doreen is survived by her sister, Gail E. Brickel, stepsister Sheryl F. Smith, brother-in-law Stephen B. Brickel, niece Elise D. Montanaro, nephew Matthew R. Brickel, grandniece Zoe Lee Jones, and grandnephew Jacob M. Cyrgalis.

A service to honor Doreen's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to any animal rescue services in Doreen's memory. May she rest in peace.

Doreen was a wonderful and generous sister, and we shared many happy times over the years. There are so many times during the day that I am reminded of her laugh, the joy she found with her garden, and the love that she had for family and friends. While my heart is still heavy with the sadness of her passing, I know that she was ready to go and is now at peace! Love you always my sweet sister.

Working in the keypunch department at New England Electric is where we met. We also lived almost across the street from each other over the years. We also retired the same year. Great friend and full of fun to be with her and Sheryl.
